Paloma Bleu

In winter 2011, this shop was selling a range clothes made from animal fur. When no-one else was in the shop, I spoke calmly and politely to the young female owner/manager of the store, inviting her to read some materials I had gathered about the source of fur clothing, especially in the wake of revelations about the preponderance of dog and cat fur in the Australian market, from Humane Society International (Australia). She responded in a rude and hostile fashion. She refused to accept any of the information brochures I had brought with me. She appeared furious that I dared accuse her of doing something ethically wrong. She said she chose to do whatever she liked, and no-one should criticise her. If fur was profitable for her, then she'd continue to sell it regardless of how it was sourced, although she also claimed to love her own two dogs. In a strange twist - as I was leaving - the young woman told me I could email her my info on fur, if I wished, but not leave the hard copies with her. Three other stores I visited in the area that also sold fur items were far less aggressive, almost friendly, in their response to my approach. It is very rare for me to find my politeness met with abject rudeness and fundamental amorality, but Paloma Bleu was one such occasion.
