Tasty food with excellent service. There was no menu online when we went, which seemed to be because they adjust according to seasonal availability of produce. Portions aren't very large, so if you have a big appetite, one main may not satisfy you. Wait service in New Zealand is generally inferior to the US, since American waiters are generally paid very low hourly rates and survive on tips, but our waiter at Orphan's Kitchen was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and attentive. I didn't catch his name, but he said he actually prepared the nut milk used in their delicious brownies himself.

Saturday Dinner. A truly outstanding dining experience. Knowledgeable and approachable staff; exciting and beautiful food; an extensive and diverse wine list. If you're willing to hand over the reins and be taken along for the ride, then I could not recommend Orphan's Kitchen highly enough.

Absolutely loved every single bit about the place. Simple food perfectly executed with fantastic flavours. Awesome atmosphere, great music, super friendly staff. Sure will be back.

This place has some nice food & good philosophy (local, organic etc.) But it's highly self conscious almost to the point of arrogance & feels deliberately overpriced, for what? I'm not sure. It just isn't that special ... there's alot of plain or burnt flavours & not much creativity in the combinations. Also .. Why list Oyster in the menu as $6 then tell you it's a 3 order minimum. Just write 3 x Oysters = $18 in the menu!
