Story

The Old Bar Tavern is situated just off the beach in the vibrant village of Old Bar. Old Bar is one of the ''Go Too'' destinations in the Manning Valley, on the mighty Mid North Coast. The area is renowned for its pristine beaches, surfing and fishing. This iconic Tavern is undergoing a stunning renovation and facelift under the guidance of the new owners. The new management wants the Tavern to be renowned for its friendly staff, delicious meals, love of kids and live entertainment.

With a large outdoor kid-friendly playground and sun-drenched beer garden courtyard, the Old Bar Tavern is the perfect place to host your next kids birthday party or catching up with friends. The Old Bar Tavern is renowned for its crisp cold beer selection on tap that is regarded by most as the best in the Manning Valley.

The new owners would like to set the trend as being the most sports mad venue in the area. We will be catering for all sports enthusiast on our large screen tvs with all Fox sporting channels, TAB facilities, professional pool tables. The Old Bar Tavern will be a major sponsor of a variety of sporting events in the future covering pro surfing classics to rodeos, from indoor bowls to world championship crab races and more.

My bf and I had dinner at The Tav, My partner had the rump steak chips & salad with the creamy garlic sauce , the rump was cooked to perfection middle rare the chips were tasty and the salad was really nice but the sauce was omg good, it was a busy Saturday night but it didn’t take long for your meal to arrive which was great and it was hot and delicious! Definitely recommend the Tav for dinner and we’ll back for sure. My bf and I are back at The Tav for dinner coz the food was delicious before, this time we had the lamb cutlets mashed potato veges and mint sauce the chef didn’t let us down , it was delicious and the mint sauce was made the meal , I had the nachos with extra sour cream and it was really delicious I licked the bowl clean , great taste , lots of it , I couldn’t eat it fast enough! I would highly recommend The Tav for any meal really , coz every meal we’ve had there was tasted like home cooking. Chef kisses to the chef the kitchen staff and crew! We’ll definitely be back !

We visited while on holiday. Went for dinner & hubby got the Calamari rings with salad. They melted in your mouth & tasted amazing. I got the fish with salad it was very enjoyable. Yum! Staff were great & as we were leaving one of the door staff helped me get the baby to car as it was pouring rain. She grabbed an umbrella & held it over us. The band was really good & atmosphere was great. Will be back on our next visit that way.
Loved this place. My wife and I are holidaying in Tuncurry and were looking for some place to do some sightseeing and have lunch. We discovered The Tav' on the internet. We checked the menu and were pleased to see that they offered a few old favourites as lunch specials. So, we decided to make this our lunch stop. From the moment we walked in, we were made to feel welcome. The barman greeted us and told us he was pleased we decided to visit. We ordered a couple of drinks from their very large variety of beers and wines and ordered our lunch. We both decided to have the bangers and mash $16 each. When the meals arrived, we nearly fell over! There were 3 good-sized sausages on a large mound of mashed potato, all covered in beautiful onion gravy and peas. We couldn't finish the meals and were offered a takeaway container by the lovely kitchen receptionist for what was left. It was enough for our dinner that night. I highly recommend The Tav' for a meal and/or drink. There's even a courtesy bus if you're staying in Old Bar. Thank you so much to the bar and kitchen staff for such a memorable experience .
We had a lovely lunch at Old Bar Tavern for my husband’s 40th birthday. The service was fantastic, especially from Tyler from front of house. We had 10 people and only booked the night before because the venue we’d previously booked unfortunately fell through. Not only did the tav fit us in last minute, Tyler set aside two tables for us, one inside and another outside next to the playground just in case we preferred to sit there. The food was delicious and it was beautiful sitting outside. Nothing was too much trouble for Tyler, she was attentive and made sure we were comfortable and happy. Thank you Old Bar Tavern for making my husband’s 40th one to remember! Kid-friendliness: There’s a fantastic playground and a big grassed area with footy goals
Had lunch. Terrible value for money. $29 for chicken ceasar that would barely pass as a side salad, barely. Service good. Ambiance no good if your looking for a nice beer with adults. Kids galore
Had a great night here - it was raffle night, which was a bit of fun even though we didn’t win anything. We did however have some great pub food - Herb and garlic bread, Beer battered Barramundi and Pasta Meatballs which were delicious and seriously large in size. The staff were welcoming and really helpful, from the driver of the Courtesy Bus telling us the system on how to get a lift back, to the security guys being really friendly while we waited for the bus. Would definitely recommend if you are lucky enough to be spending some time in Old Bar!

Food was fresh and delicious and cocktails were amazing. However, the food was definitely overpriced for the portions and atmosphere. I don’t mind grungy or rustic or classic tav places places but outside felt dingy and dirty and needs new flooring timber deck? and a good pressure wash and the smokers area if they were in it was way too close to where everyone was sitting. Meals were $23+ plus $5 on top for chips !! and I didn’t get much squid and for that price you expect a clean venue.
