Went on Dec 30. Homestead was closed so could not tour it. Decided to set up our BBQ for lunch in picnic area. Only 2 old tables were in the shade but these had swarms of mosquitos that drove us out to the new tables that had no shade at all. No mozzies at these tables, just a million flies. Views from outside homestead are great and there are numerous walking tracks. Best to visit in the winter when the insects are less active.

Great to see how the early settlers lived and worked in the Lakes. Great walks and aussie history from the 1800's.

Such a wonderful place, run by wonderful people. You have to visit this place if you can! Trust me, it'll be worth it (since it's free! You're welcome to donate whatever you like).
