Gyms a little small but manageable, there’s no longer accessible lockers for fitness passport users and the toilets and change rooms need to be cleaned more thoroughly. But two of the receptionists are an absolute pleasure to speak to Georgia and Kayla and may have convinced me to start a membership with your facility’s.
Small gym. Staff who are uninterested in helping people who are training, they hide in a little office. You could break your back and they’d just close the door. Awful music, 80’s or rock, because that is what the PT on shift prefers vs what should be played at a gym to motivate people. Plenty of people spending more time in their phones than exercising. Every venue that the YMCA takes on ends up like this. Carlton Baths is the same, staff are very unpleasant and act as though they are doing you a favour when you speak to them. On 24/01 there was a bloke sitting on a bench reading a book meanwhile others cannot use that bench so he has a place to read between sets on another machine. The staff on shift couldn’t care less. Welcome to another facility trashed by the YMCA.
Whenever I think about the gym, first and the foremost thing comes to my mind is “Listen to the iron, it can change your life” So a proper gym should have free weights, machines and an aerobic section for cardiovascular exercises. So I prefer this Recreation Centre. The trainers are very friendly and gives proper instructions. This is my favourite gym!!!
Very poor gym culture. Patrons and staff are territorial about the shared equipment and snap at you when you ask them how many sets they have left. Management is weak and unhelpful. I got into several quarrels about this including with two aggressive *staff* members who were monopolizing the machines until I finally left.
The gym is small and crowded. There is no time limit or rule that people must take turns, so folks camp out on the very limited machines doing social media etc. This leads to member conflicts, which management does nothing about. Trainers have priority in access to equipment. A trainer may monopolise a single machine for half an hour or more, servicing a sequence of clients, even if there is no alternative machine. The gym has no stretching area and no dedicated parking lot for members. It can be hard to find on-street parking during weekdays and when a game is on in the North Melbourne oval.
Great futsal field but no lights on a Saturday night, super disappointed to have to cut the session short. No info on when the lights are on.
Love the spot. Football/Basketball artifical grass field. Big footy field next to the court.
Picked up our member merchandise and was met with one of our AFLW players Aileen. She was very helpful and friendly to talk too. Love the club.
Great location, great staff, tiny Gym : , perfect oval, very inclusive group fitness classes. Low on sport bunnies with pony tales skins and coloured laces or guys with tight pants or beards glued to the mirrors and high on friendliness. Good hours could do with year round out door pool opening hours.
Advertised online that there is volleyball court available for hire, turned out no. Needed update on their website. Staff on the phone is polite and nice.
