Our favourite “local” pub for a good and decent meal. Week days, weekend roasts, it is always consistently serving up good food and a good drink. We have taken many friends there and it never disappoints. Come footy nights, it is also busy. On Thursday , Fridays and weekend nights, there are always many people in the pub area as well as the restaurant. Lots of young and old folks. We enjoy it very much and lucky to have it near us.
Amazing birthday dinner. Monday night steak special did not disappoint. Chicken liver parfait was a little too sweet to our liking, and the toasted brioche didn't feel like the best to pair it with. Tuna tartare was bursting with flavour, as well as the wagyu like a carpacio, but don't think it was the name of it, with the figs, was absolutely amazing. BURGER IS A MUST, dont need to say anymore. Obviously steak on a steak night for $29, with selections of mustards, drizzled with a delicious peppercorn sauce. Value + Flavour = happiness, i can promise you will be happy. Also tried their duck special, which was cooked perfectly, soft, juicy also covered with the peppercorn sauce was sublime. They also have what seems like a housemade tomato relish hope its housemade, but that went really well with the burger.nnWill definitely look to come back here for a nice dinner, or even a spot to hangout for some drinks, very nice place.
First time dining here for their Monday Steak Night, and it was the best steak night I’ve experienced so far. The steak was cooked perfectly medium rare and the overall experience exceeded my expectations. The service was excellent as well ; friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout the evening. I’ll definitely be back. The menu looks fantastic too, especially the St John Bone Marrow, which I’m keen to try on my next visit.
We had dinner in the courtyard. The food was excellent. It was a Saturday night and it was very busy and therefore noisy. It's bar service with a great selection of beers. There's a specials board as well as the regular menu. Great backstreet pub.nUpdate: we had dinner in the dinning room and it was excellent. Great atmosphere and outstanding food as usual.
Been here twice now and both times have been very pleasant and enjoyable. Mid crowd here from family with kids, small groups to couples.nnWhat I love about this pub is that they do the classic meals really well. The sausage roll was a home run; I could easily tell this was home made compared to what you’d buy in the shops, the pastry was soft and flaky.nnThe Sunday Roast was delicious, I just wished there was more meat. But the sauce was on point and the veggies were enjoyable to eat.nnLastly and in my opinion the pubs star dish is the sticky date pudding. It’s one of the best in Melbourne in my opinion. It’s a nice big portion and the fruits in the pudding come through.
