Story

Newstead House is a living museum, giving life to our past through activities such as education, exhibitions, interpretation, public programming and publications. Also open for weddings, events, groups, tours, filming and photography. Built in 1846, this Heritage Listed property is Brisbane's oldest surviving home. The iconic landmark has evolved from a simple Georgian cottage into a grande residence following significant renovations and extensions in 1876.

Considered one of the most significant properties in Brisbane and Queensland, located just minutes from the CBD, Newstead House is decorated and furnished to reflect the late Victorian period.

We support the economic and cultural sustainability of Newstead House through community engagement, visitation to the property and public programming.
