Native Animal Rescue

About

Native Animal Rescue is a not-for-profit wildlife centre dedicated to the rehabilitation & release of sick, injured, orphaned & displaced wildlife in WA

Story

Native Animal Rescue is the business name for the Fauna Rehabilitation Foundation. Native Animal Rescue is a not-for-profit, non government incorporated body dedicated to the rehabilitation and release of sick, injured, orphaned and displaced native animals.

We rely totally on public donations, funds raised through our own fundraising activities and incidental funding grants from other sources.

Founded in 1982 Native Animal Rescue is headquartered on a 15 hectare natural bush site in Malaga. Native Animal Rescue cares for more than 3,000 native animals in need each year. This includes native birds, mammals, reptiles, and frogs.

Native Animal Rescue collaborates with local veterinary clinics to provide a rescue service for native animals to the community living in the suburbs north of the Swan River.

We have state-of-the-art facilities to cater for:

- Rehabilitation of black cockatoos and waterbirds,
- Undertaking research on animals such as woylies
- Wildlife Veterinary Hospital
- Translocation projects with DPaW

Mission

Native Animal Rescue exists to:
- Treat and care for sick, injured, orphaned and displaced native animals to rehabilitate them back into their natural environment;
- Contribute to conservation strategies in collaboration with various agencies;
- Provide facilities for the training of practitioners in wildlife management skills and the education of the wider community in wildlife issues;
- Educate veterinary students in the care and handling of wildlife; and
- Provide resources and facilities to support research into wildlife issues.

The bobtail lizard that's made my garden its home for the past few years recently became unwell. She (He?) went downhill rapidly yesterday, showing signs of Bobtail Flu. I dropped her off at Native Animal Rescue today, and the staff were incredibly compassionate and knowledgable. They explained her condition and how they are going to treat it, and will allow me to be part of the re-release. I've become quite attached to "Bella" (who is probably a boy), and I know he / she is in good hands. Thank you for all that you do to help our native critters. You are superstars. 🌟

Wonderfully caring people looking after our wildlife. I've visited twice with a baby bird and an injured baby bird and I left with confidence that the two little ones would be looked after and rehabilitated with care. Great work team!
