What a great museum! Very interesting and beautiful. There was a free tour about the shipwrecks and the guide was very informative and a good speaker! The story of the Batavia is fascinating so definitely recommended to read it before visiting the museum.
First timer and happy to visit again next time in Geraldton. I can say, it is one of the best visitor destinations in town. Most parts of the museum were free of charge. However, they have a dinosaur event good for kids and enjoyable with a ticket. You must see the 3D film, so cool and informative. It's related to the most artifacts there. One more thing, go outside the building, at the back, there's a replica boat. Just in you miss it. So, it's recommended guys. Enjoy!
A wonderful museum that does an excellent job of narrating the history of the area. The more one passes through it, the more it immerses him in the opulent sensation of the past. The three-dimensional video room that tells the story of the combat between the German battleship Kormoran and the HMAS Sydney II, was my favourite part of the exhibit. It's completely free, but if you'd like, you can make a donation.
The Geraldton Museum is a treasure trove of historical wonders. The shipwreck section is particularly captivating, offering a fascinating glimpse into the maritime history of the region. Detailed exhibits and artifacts bring to life the dramatic tales of shipwrecks along the Western Australian coast. Equally impressive is the section dedicated to the contributions of Western Australia's First Nations peoples. This area is thoughtfully curated, showcasing local stories through local artists incredible worknnAnother highlight is the extensive section on local settler history, which vividly portrays the lives and experiences of early European settlers in the region. This part of the museum is rich with personal stories, photographs, and memorabilia, making history come alive. Additionally, the museum's display on local fauna is both informative and engaging, showcasing the unique wildlife of the area and detailed information.nnThe museum also has a fascinating deep sea section. This exhibit offers a window into the mysterious underwater world off the coast, featuring a variety of marine life, geological formations, and the technology used in deep-sea exploration. The Geraldton Museum offers a well-rounded, educational, and thoroughly enjoyable experience for all visitors.
Always love the museum, each holidays we go to see what's there as an activity. Kids love it and the atmosphere is always calm. Amazing helpers and guides there always with a smile also
