Had low expectations, yet they exceeded it. Cheap and cheerful Chinese in the suburb included salty fish and chicken fried rice as well as pork prawn and chives steamed dumplings. It was quite enjoyable and yummy
Exceptional food here, old school pricing and has a healthy reputation as a must visit ... many options and rapid serviceFood: 5/5
The dumplings are delicious - worth the little bit extra to have them fried. And their other dishes are great too - particularly the refreshing cucumber and golden mushroom salad and the fried noodle dishes both very flavoursome and light. Nothing flash about eating in, but the food is good and works well for takeaways/delivery too. Update: There was one incident with an incorrect order. The team went out of their way to rectify this and were very understanding and apologetic. Honest people providing good service and looking after their customers.
After being out of Auckland for a few years I had missed having a range of international food profiles. First dumplings in years so I am very excited. They always manage to get a flavour and mouth feel that leaves my home attempts in the shade !!!!!! Parking: There is limited street parking, it can be a challenge
A small, quaint chinese restaurant that's just bustling with different flavours for many tasters. Our favourites have always been Black Bean beef, Brown Sauce Green beans and Chicken & Coriander dumplings. The catch is the speed of service and the general atmosphere brought on by customers varies form time to time. An overall enjoyable place to eat from for just those easy choices in asian cuisine. Vegetarian options: Plenty of meat-free options that are just as delectable. Kid-friendliness: Not everything is spicy or sour so there has to be something the kids can eat easy. Personally I recommend Chicken & Coriander Dumplings for easy pickings.
Have been coming here for years and consistently rated it 5 stars for quality and taste. Tonight was hardly a one. All the food was drowning in oil and inedible. I ate maybe half the stuffed eggplant which had less than a teaspoon of pork and was drowning in oil. The spring onion pancakes had no spring onions and were doughy, well actually the chef pointed out a grain of what looked green and said that's it. Picked up a dumpling and could see the oil dripping and it fell apart it was so soggy. Gross. Would totally avoid. So many better options for the price.
Food is generally quite good, but can be a bit pricey for what it is. The other night we spent 20 minutes listening to the chef in the kitchen continuously hack, retch, and spit while we waited for the food. Incredibly gross and really put me off eating anything from there…Food: 4/5
12/08/21 - tried the vege fried noodles again. Sadly I was totally underwhelmed. I literally counted 4 decent slices of tofu and a few crumbled bits, 6 slices of mushroom, sliced cabbage and 4 julienne pieces of carrot. Part of the noodles were all clumped together and not cooked through. The place has never been the same since it was taken over a few years ago..... Review 3 yrs ago - vegetarian fried pancake, fried noodles & dumplings. Been here lot's. This meal was not their best. Completely missing some key core ingredients usually included. Disappointed
I got this on Ubereats, and honestly i wasn’t expecting much, but it was so good! I got pan fried dumplings and a wonton soup with chicken pieces. Everything tasted so good and it was packaged with so much care. The portions size was worth the price! Would defs order from here again.
I think Mr Zhou's has the potential to compete with the 5 star cheap eats like those found on dominion road. We had a variety of dishes and all were cooked just right! Didn't know what to expect with the Taro Milk Tea but it was ok. My favorites were the tofu with spring onions, the spare ribs on brown sauce, and the pancake. Giving only 4 stars today as we did arrive late but not closing time late and the worker started to mop and bleach smell was strong at times. Will come back to try more dishes.
