A chaotic Valentine’s Day dinner. It seems from other reviews that many people were not found a table - I think it’s safe to say they dodged a very expensive bullet. After waiting at our tables for over 20 minutes we were asked if we would like a drink. We took the opportunity to order both food and drinks. 45 minutes or so later we started to receive our dishes, seemingly at random intervals. The food was consistent insofar as being remarkably tasteless and bland. The sushi rice was stodgy; tasting as if it had been left out for some time, and with no hint of sushi vinegar. The fish quality was substandard, especially the salmon which was chewy. The soft shell crab had an odd faint prawn taste. Our tempura prawns didn’t present themselves after over an hour of waiting. By this point two other tables had left the restaurant due to the service, which was a combination of chaos and confusion. There seemed to be little idea of what was going on between the staff and a white female waiter showed herself to be particularly lacking in customer service - smirking at us when we were looking for help and walking off. I’m not sure if service is usually this poor but it really was a mess on this particular night. One thing I found to be unacceptable though was the quality of the fish. Our bill came to $117 for the above dishes and we were left with our stomachs rumbling and our wallets significantly lighter. All in all very disappointing.

Ruined Valentine’s Day dinner! Made a booking over 2 weeks ago for a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner for 7:30pm and when we arrived, tables were available but apparently not ours. The Manager seated people arriving after us. We waited until 8pm as we were told he was looking after us, but still no table. After another inquiry, the Manager told us another 15 minutes! That would be 45 minutes after our booked time! On Valentines Day! The Manager was untruthful from the start about the wait time on our table. Why he seated people coming in after us, I will never know! The place was a shambles, the wait staff clearly overwhelmed. We left after 8pm as we were never seated. Will never be back. Terrible Valentine’s Day experience.

Like the other recent reviews we booked on valentines day but actually did make it to a table to eat. The session was like watching a very slow car crash. People were crowded around the doorway waiting for the first session to finish and once seated it took staff over 20 minutes to take drink orders even though they were catching my eye many a time and then walking away to do something else. I completely understand that the restaurant managers had maybe tried something new because it was valentines day and unfortunately staff weren't able to handle the stress - fair enough. However, the rudeness of a particular waitress and quality of the food was inexcusable. We ordered 4 items (one if which never arrived) and was definitely not close to traditional japanese cuisine nor a modern take. The taste was mediocre at best - chain sushi hubs produced more palatable food than they did as the rice was clumpy and had no flavour and sushi rolls were too huge to consider eating in one bite. We watched 3 tables, who arrived after us, leave in a huff after complaining to staff before we got up to pay our bill. For a restaurant with such great reviews I was extremely disappointed. Go here if you want to instagram your food (the lighting is bad so maybe chuck on the flash), skip on eating and stay clear of the plum wine. I hear there is a great fish and chips place nearby on Bay St.

I had booked for this restaurant for 3 weeks ago when i had arrived I was told I was not on the list after a confrontation with the owner clearly showing my reservation and booking confirmation he managed to scramble a seat 15 mins later . We had to ask the waiters to take our order. 1 hour later 1 of 4 entrees were served only to constantly asking where my food was. 1.5 hrs later after all entrees and unsympathic wait staff I requested for the owner. Owner no where to be seen i paid my bill and not worried for mains. I waited 20 minutes after paying my bill to speak with the owner only to be laughed out when explaining my valentines day and anniversary was ruined Will not recommend anyone to attend the restuarant is so disorganised and mismanaged Money not well spent in this circumstance

It is a very lovely restaurant! Nice for after work catch up and family weekend gathering. Very warm setting, outstanding service with unique beautiful dishes! 5 stars recommendation for sure!
