After my former fiancé sexually assaulted, abused me, and stalked me to Melbourne, this court took his false statements and he got a protection order to silence me. After I submitted evidence showing the order was granted on lies a rehearing was granted; on the condition I attend in person.  I explained why this was not safe for me and submitted to them the police reports about being abused, stalked, and harassed; i showed them there was clear danger to require me to attend in person due to the nature of how this person was trying to locate me by any means, and it fell on deaf ears. I fled the country altogether as the only means to escape my abuser, THAT is how this system works. This place is a disgrace, a disgusting example of how tools to protect victims are leveraged against them by their abusers.  This courthouse is full of filth who are no better than the abusers themselves. Another example of Australia’s miserable track record for domestic violence.

There is no fair justice here I feel more anxious depressed and probably going to therapy after every court hearingnI’m pretty much feel like a criminal when I go there just trying to get my child back into my care and the legal system is manipulated me are going out of their way to take my child away regardless I was being a good parent to my youngest son I never felt so scared in my life feeling like no one‘s on my side and not much support even even I have support but nothing gets reported to court with child protection and legal system is going out of their way to take my son away and get given more credit for someone who didn’t even want the child in the first place my ex partner seems like he says what he wants and gets it even he didn’t deserve it so the legal system only favours dad’s

In the event you are sued for a car accident in this court, pay and walk away, avoid legal costs, there is no fair justice here. The hearing will likely be handled by an admin judiciary magistrar who doesn’t read the pleadings. It is a small world where decisions are made quickly without understanding the law, and the very few lawyers handling these cases in this « court » know how to play the game to defend the insurance companies.

I had a hearing on the 21st of May at 9:30. The judge was very kind. The duty lawyer, seems more like she was on the prosecutors side. A lady came up to me and told me there was no duty lawyer for the day while the duty lawyer was walking up and down my face. I insisted on seeing a duty lawyer she finally came to talk to me my traffic matter was listed for 9:30am they wasted my time the whole day until after 4pm before I left. Horrible experience but I’m glad the judge was empathetic.
