With an estimated manufacturing output of around $10 billion per annum, Kingston is one of Victoria’s most important manufacturing centres. Areas of specialty include engineering, automotive, plastics and chemicals, food, metal fabrication, printing, aerospace and marine. Kingston also has a vibrant retail base with a mix of bustling shopping strips including Parkdale, Mentone, Mordialloc, Dingley Village and Chelsea, as well as large shopping centres such as Westfield Southland and Direct Factory Outlets.

OUR HISTORY
The City of Kingston was formed in December 1994 following the State Government’s major restructure of Local Government in Victoria. The new city was an amalgamation of all or parts of the former cities of Moorabbin, Mordialloc, Chelsea, Springvale and Oakleigh.
At the time it was regarded as one of the most complex amalgamations in Victoria as it brought together such a diverse range of communities.

In the intervening years the City of Kingston has
developed into a vibrant and dynamic community. A new electoral structure for Kingston was announced in June 2007 and took effect following the Council elections on 29 November 2008. Under the new structure there are three wards - North Ward, Central Ward and South Ward, and three Councillors represent each ward. This brings the total number of Councillors to nine, instead of
the previous structure of seven wards each represented by one Councillor.

Mission

OUR VISION
A diverse, dynamic community where we all share
a sustainable, safe, attractive environment and a
thriving economy.

OUR PURPOSE
To work with the community to protect and enhance
the quality of life for current and future generations.

The Kingston City Council's stanky Aspendale Beach leaves much to be desired. The overwhelming odor is a major drawback, hindering the overall experience. While the location has potential, addressing the unpleasant smell should be a top priority for an improved beach atmosphere.
Just scumbags really. Build a new car park at the station, put part of it as 2 hour parking to trick people, then issue fines. $123 whilst cost of living is at its highest. People are just trying to get to work to pay for food. These guys are just scum of the earth. No compassion
Have requested tree pruning collection 3 times!.. they finally advise that they will not collect because the large branches did not have a string around them?.. how ridiculous! and pointless..nMy 82yo mum who has just had an operation and is barely able to walk, had to go out and tie strings around these massive branches, causing aggravated back pain.. shame Kingston council, shame!..
No private organisation could ever exist running such an inefficient office.nBasically - one department cant talk to another !nHere’s my experience :nJanuary 19th I submitted a flood report via the councils website and filled in all the required details including photos. Only today 19 March I received a phone call from the council and the lady said I need to submit a form to the maintenance department via the councils website. I asked why can’t the council forward the email they already have to the maintenance department , the lady replied that they dont have access to the Maintenance department. Madness ! No interdepartmental communication possible to solve problems ?
The latest left wing decision by the city of Kingston with lowering the aboriginal flag and having Australia Day as day of mourning is a disgusting act and insult to the rate payers and resident of the area. The left wing attitudes in this council are beyond belief and it must be stopped. A council is not a political party and they work for the people. They need to keep their opinions to themselves as they are there to represent the local community not their own political views. They all should resign
