Won't come home to give a quote unless my wife is home? Really? Outdated sales skills similar to used car sales man. I know what I want and still insists my wife must be home. I have discussed with my wife and she trusts mu judgement. Also told them, to be clear I will not make the decision on the day so don't try and push me into one...it is a QUOTE I am after to start with...to check against quality, service, how it stacks against others and than affordability. Just usual common sense stuff we do before spending our $$$. I just decided to pull out rather than waste my life with a company who does not know customer service starts from the first engagement.

Service was excellent from the time I received the quote which was excellent to the day the shutters were put up. The gentleman who put the shutters up arrived on time, he shifted the items of furniture to obtain access to the windows , he removed the old blinds and placed them outside where I asked him to. He worked efficiency at all times and was very polite. He removed all the rubbish and made sure the furniture was returned to their correct position. I have no hesitation in recommending Modern for what you want

If you like dealing with used car salesmen you'll love buying from Modern! And Modern will make you feel like a Hollywood starlet meeting with a movie producer, because your "no" definitely doesn't mean no.

- Paid 3 x more than other quotes (lesson learnt - get other quotes) - initial agreed repairs (cracked tiles, loose saddle) were never done - had to get three different people in over a three month period. - 1 repairer fell off the second story onto the first story breaking tiles and bending my gutter. They bent the gutter back into place and replaced tiles after a week waiting - splatter paint all over surrounding area. After reading reviews we got the same sales pitch: "Let me ask my boss- he said I can do you a deal" We got in contact with fair trading and put in a complaint to get a refund but in the end we gave up and learnt the lesson of 1. Never deal with modern 2. Don't get sucked into signing anything straight away - no matter what they say 3. Get multiple quotes 4. Check reviews

We needed just one roller shutter for our bedroom window as the early morning light (despite blockout blinds) was waking us up too early. Our first thought was Modern - and our second thought was that they would be too expensive. Because of this preconception we contacted other companies however one after another along came unprofessional "salesmen" who thought I would order with them just on the basis of price. They didn't present their product or their company and left me wondering if I was dealing with dodgy organisations selling second rate products. Concerned, I eventually contacted Modern and they sent out Fahim (who is a thorough gentleman) and who took time to point out the benefits of his product and then worked hard to put together an acceptable price. Delivery and installation was as indicated by Fahim timewise and the installation guy did a good tidy job. The roller shutter works perfectly and does exactly what we want. This was probably the smallest job Modern had for some time but they performed as if it was a really important big job. Steve Wood
