We were given a gift voucher to celebrate our engagement and booked a romance package to stay here for 2 nights. Our package included a sparkling wine which we waited for over two hours for after we checked in. We finally asked reception on our way to high tea and were assured that the sparkling wine would be ready in our room when we came back from high tea. About an hour later we came back to our room, and to our disappointment, the sparkling wine was not there. Later that evening we ordered room service and asked for our sparkling wine for the second time. Reception was apologetic and explained that the sparkling wine should have been set up in the room right after arrival. However, supper was delivered sans the sparkling wine, again. At 6am in the morning, my partner jumped up from bed screaming, and we turned up the light just in time to see a spider crawled across and disappeared into the back of the bed. We called reception and was told someone would be in at 6, I pointed out that it was past 6am and she said she would make enquiries and call us back. She called back at 6:30am and said someone would be in at 7am and he would come and help us then. We had planned to sleep in but instead we sat around waiting for someone to come in. When someone called at 7am, we were told that there was an insect spray in our bedroom and to take care of it ourselves. We sprayed the room and due to the toxic odour of the insect spray, ended up asking for a new room, which they obliged quite quickly. We also asked for our sparkling wine again and finally got it after making 3 requests, which was pretty unacceptable for a 5 star hotel, as this wasn't a hard task. It was unfortunate about the spider bite as living in Australia especially in summer, but fortunate at the same time as albeit a painful bite, it wasn't a poisonous spider that resulted in a medical emergency. However, this incident was handled badly. Someone should have been sent immediately to make sure it wasn't a poisonous spider and the hotel should have offered a new room straight away rather than asking the guests to handle it. We would overlook this if it was a 2 star motel but but not a 5 star hotel. Higher rating comes with higher expectations. We would come back for the massage and spa, which we enjoyed very much, and also the restaurant. However we would not come back to stay at this hotel. We also agree with other reviewers that this hotel whilst charming, is quite dated. All in all a very average stay, which was a very disappointing way to celebrate our engagement, and we would definitely not consider holding our wedding reception here.

I stayed recently with my wife at Milton Park to celebrate our 33rd wedding anniversary and while the rooms could potentially use a little upgrading, the staff and grounds were magnificent. Haley at reception was warm and welcoming and nothing was ever a problem and Jamie who was there at breakfast and again at dinner both nights was friendly and helped us enjoy our time there with her kind and friendly persona. The location is exquisite and Moira the Maitre d' was exquisite. Our stay was all we'd hoped for and more.

Beautiful house, gorgeous gardens, very efficient hotel staff (but with too much makeup and unnatural looking). However please give the Orangerie restaurant a miss. The food is very average and the service was so poor it was embarrassing. The staff are all 15 year old high school kids with bad attitudes and no idea on how to take orders or serve meals. Maybe they were all on work experience when we went?

Nice place to relax. First time being here. Serene gardens and walkways. Friendly staff and good food but I hope they have more choices for breakfast. Overall I'm quite happy with my stay. I highly recommend for a quick getaway from the city.

Avoid this hotel. It is expensive, old, poorly repaired, poorly cleaned, uncomfortable beds. To their credit we did receive a refund of our third night after we left. They grounds of the hotel are spectacular and it is a popular wedding venue, but they get different accommodation.
