A huge open sports park catering for cricket and soccer. The park has it's own wetland area to the north of the park with an interesting array of flora, fauna, and wild life. A good network of paths connect the entrances with the facilities. Access the car parks from Michaels Avenue and Elwood Place. Pedestrians can also access the park from Ellerslie Park Road and Arron Street. A playground, car parks, fitness equipment, picnic tables, seating, and a bike stand are inside the park. The park is home to the Ellerslie Recreation Centre and a number of smaller leased facilities. Follow the 1.6km Michaels Avenue Reserve Path around the park.
The park is quite large and houses a myriad of different sporting fields. I was here for the YMCA to play some pickleball. There is a carpark with a playground nearby. The park area is quite large with fitness stations around the pathway. I was only on the lower area by the YMSA but there is also another area above the soccer fields.
One of the well-maintained reserve but always busy over the weekend! Lots of matches are played here and sometimes you won’t get the parking. The play area for children is also well-maintained!
Great spot to walk the dog and do a few chin ups, dead hangs and push ups and more, but I stop there. Dogs aren't permitted to roam the playing fields, but you wouldn't know it. We have two dogs, but the chihuahua refuses to go unless pack leader is in attendance.
Really nice place to go for a walk with your love ones
A convenient medium size all in one sport and venue hire community center. Has a intermediate size indoor sport stadium, outdoor sport group and play ground for small kids and parking space.
Great Reserve and walking park, also for runners and the moms with prams lol! Dogs have great fun with so much space to play. Definitely a favorite
Great park with massive fields, club and reserve. Weekends always have games to watch. Heaps of benches for spectators. Highlight of the park is the pond with heaps of birds - ducks & pukekos. The wetlands have picnic spots and info as well. Reserve has a big parking lots and on street parking available all around as well
Lovely playground with older and new bits. Plus a lovely little reserve with lots of bird life.
Good place to do some exercise but they are deforesting a lot, to build more soccer and criquet fields.
