A little unimpressive on the shopping center side but it is fairly genuine in and around the gullies. A bit of up and down and a lookout or two and the whole character was quite peaceful. If you like a break away from traffic and City noise, this place can help with most of that.

Very nice bush walk with a couple of lookouts to stop at. Steps can be a bit slippery when wet, but otherwise well kept
This isn't the great New Zealand outdoors, but it is a lovely track for a run/ walk for locals. Great views and thick bush, goes all the way around the area with fantastic lookout points.
Nice walk, but not well looked after. Signs fallen over, trees fallen over paths, muddy paths, path edges dangerously sloped when they should have timber edges. Not recommended for kids to roam free.
Lush native bush 10 mins from downtown Auckland. If it's been raining the track will be muddy in places so bring old shoes. Look out for the 300 year old tree. If you go at night, take a torch to see and turn it off sometimes to check for glow worms. Some views of the water and city.
Kepa Bush Reserve is a great place to take visitors to experience NZ native bush without having to travel out to the Waitakere Ranges. The paths are in a rough state and require TLC, but that could contribute to the beauty of the reserve for some people. There is a wonderful view looking north over the Orakei Basin towards the city. There are picnic facilities but no toilets. You can park nearby at the shopping mall, or travel by bus.I suggest that you do not venture in here on your own.
