This is one hell of a train station. The platforms are very sturdy! Whenever I stand waiting for my train, I always feel so safe and protected from the horrors of the Earth's core. And don't even get me started on how level they are! I once dropped a box of kool mints on the ground after a late night train trip and they all rolled away in perfectly straight lines.nThe space is used so efficiently, unlike some stations that try and cram in toilets, snack machines or water dispensers. What a waste of space!nThe Miki machine is brilliantly unreliable and I particularly enjoy the announcements that let me know that my train will be late allowing me to have one more caramel flavoured vape before I get on my filthy train. I love the way they have that retro distortion that really makes me feel like I've stepped back in time.nKeep up the good work Merlo!
Decent train station. Includes a Myki top up machine cannot purchase a Myki here however, some seating under cover and exposed, ample parking spaces parking area is gravel / dirt, it's not paved or concreted. Can usually get a parking space easily until 8.30am. Upfield bike path runs adjacent to the station. Infrequent trains ~ every 20 mins and there seems to be train cancellations here and there for non-peak trains as well as delays. No toilet.
No toilets. Hardly any shelter. At peak times there is only a train every 20 minutes and that's IF they turn up at all. Metro has a habit of terminating trains at Coburg if there's any issues on the line between Coburg and Upfield so even if the train can make it to Merlynston it's deemed to be not worth the bother.nIf you are thinking of moving to this area try to get near the Craigieburn line which has 4 times the service. Same price
No toilets or ability to purchase myki, car park is not paved or marked. Trains are more reliable on the Craigieburn line
Not glamorous but it works - and if your Upfield line train gets cancelled, it's handy to catch the bus to Glenroy station and join the Craigieburn line.
