I stayed here for 1 night prior to attending training for work over the road at the Old Treasury Building. For this purpose the hotel is the closest available and just a couple of minutes walk away from my destination which was fantastic! I had a late check in of 8pm due to travel delays however could not access my room until 8:50pm as the cleaning was not yet completed. The friendliness of the staff made this no problem as they provided 2 x complimentary drink coupons for the bar and a free room upgrade to a Garden view balcony suite, so this slight delay ended up being no problems at all. The staff were exceptionally professional and welcoming also making the delay no worries at all. The parking garage was full however additional parking at a lowered rate is only steps away within the Sofitel hotel grounds making this alternative suitable. The room was very clean, well appointed and large offering lovely views of the Gardens opposite. Complimentary water and sweets alongside a wide range of bathroom amenities was a welcome surprise also. The bed was very comfortable and with no noise from the outside busy main road made for a lovely nights sleep. While the en-suite is slightly small perfect however for a solo traveller like myself the layout and fantastic water pressure in the large shower made up for this. Fantastic value and much better than other hotels nearby that I have stayed at and paid higher rates for. I would recommend this hotel and will return for business purposes in the future.
Convenient, quiet CBD location. Great staff. Good ground floor dining and breakfast area. The garden view from room 415, a 2 queen bed room was lovely. However, the quality of the hotel's facilities, products and hallways could do with some further major refurbishment. The bathrooms are tiny and very cramped. I found my mattress to be old, too firm and uncomfortable - not the quality I would expect at that price point. Overall an okay experience, however, there are much better value for money alternatives in the city.
Like a budget version of comfortable. For a single person the rooms aren't bad but they are small for the price. They are tidy but our fridge was filthy and one of the cups was dirty. No microwave, the fridge temp is not very cold and only one hot chocolate packet even though there are two guests. There is no internet or call reception inside the hotel and the free wifi stops before checkout. The walls are thin, we could hear the cleaners going through the rooms around us in the mornings, it sounds like they're running into everything at full speed EDIT: the response and good customer service received bumped this up to 3 stars
Great location near transport but nice and quiet. Rooms have great blockout blinds so rooms are really dark for a great sleep. Mattress is very firm but still comfortable. Breakfast is lovely. Not all thats big but still a good variety of choices. Staff friendly. Only criticism is size of tv. Very small on large expanse of wall. Needs an upgrade to 55cm.
I found the check in/out experience very friendly and fast, the lifts were quick to get to your floor, cleaning staff always say hello. The rooms were clean and the air conditioning quiet and excellent. The room was nice size and shower design excellent. Security to rooms very good. Location is excellent with lots of quality bars and restaurants close by.
Dining, food was excellent, staff very accommodating. Checkin & out very efficient & helpful with advice on hotel amenities. Lady servicing room for cleaning was very efficient & couldn't do enough to make our room more comfortable. Espresso machine was leaking from water reservoir, this was changed promptly. Overall would stay again, great location, reasonably quiet.
I had a really great experience at the hotel. The staff were really friendly and helpful, giving us instructions and recommendations on where to go. They were also able to help us book our airport transfer with the starbus. We were able to check in early even without requesting for it and that was great. I checked in on my birthday and they prepared a plate of chocolates and strawberries and brought it up to my room. That was really sweet and thoughtful. Thank you! The hotel room was quite small but not uncomfortably so, it was very cosy and had everything. We asked for bedroom slippers and they also brought it up to our room. Breakfast was great. We loved that there was a small Asian option everyday with the congee. My mom really appreciated that. The location of the hotel was great. It was in the CBD, there is a tram station just round the corner of the hotel and the metro within walking distance. We were able to walk to Chinatown, and also some of the shopping areas on Bourke St. and Little Bourke St. Overall, we had a very good stay!
Staff were very welcoming which is nice when your traveling on business away from family. My room was large with two queen beds, however the bathroom was overly small to the point it is clear the bedroom size has been given more thought than the bathroom. You may need to practice your sideways tango to get into the shower! Room service was swift, however the chicken parmie was underwhelming with dry burnt cheese. However it was served with the best chips I've ever eaten. Thank god for chips! Breakfast was lovely, a bit squishy regards to seating but all is forgotten after you dive into the eggy bacon goodness. Overall i would say 3 stars, good option for business but a great potential for families due to the double queen beds and the park across the road. Give it a go - you be comfy and well fed at brekky.
Location great. Quiet room. However, wasn’t impressed with the room, despite being told we’d been ‘upgraded.’ TV didn’t work properly and when reception were notified, there wasn’t anything they could do as the hotel was fully booked and maintenance “had left for the day.” Wouldn’t have been such an issue if we could have read but the lighting was too poor to read bed lamps fixed to the wall too far away. With only one lounge chair, only one person could read under a light. No nice touches and the service we experienced had declined from previous occasions we had stayed there.
Friendly staff greeted us on arrival. Our twin room was neat and clean, with comfortable beds and excellent block out blinds. The bathroom was extremely compact but clean & served its purpose. We had the service elevator right next to our room which didn't overly effect us, however wouldn't be good for someone wanting a late sleep in as it got quite noisy by 8am with housekeepers coming and going. We did find the airconditioner to emit a very obvious whirr which was a bit annoying when trying to get to sleep and we ended up turning it off for sleeping after the first night. The hotel is in a handy location very close to a Flinders St tram stop within the free city tram zone and opposite the pretty Treasury Gardens. Our accommodation included the buffet breakfast which offered a good selection of hot and cold items to fuel up for a big day of shopping. We ordered from room service one day and were extremely impressed with the chicken Caesar salads - delicious and huge! I find the $4 tray charge an unnecessary expense though. The hotel served our requirements well and I wouldn't hesitate in booking again.
