The MCC Glen Iris Valley Tennis Club in located on the Riversdale Golf course giving great views of the rolling fairways from the club balcony. All 12 courts are en-tout-cas in surface and the venue plays host to some of the largest tennis event on the calendar, such as the Federation Cup, Premier League Finals, AMT events and Junior JT tournaments.
MCC Glen Iris Valley Tennis Club is a membership based club with competitions both day and night, mid week and weekend. There is a strong social component to the club and members have access to BBQ facilities, a fully licensed bar, kitchen and new amenities such as a lounge area and plasma television. The club also have a function room for hire which caters for birthdays, receptions and conferences.
After tennis courts were built for MCC members at the MCG in the 1870s, the Tennis Section was formed in 1879, becoming a key player in the development of lawn tennis in Victoria.
MCC was the leading club and principal organiser of tennis in the colony and staged the first Australasian Championships (later called the Australian Open) at the Albert Ground in 1905.
Past and present MCC players have also represented both the club and Australia in several state, national and international competitions - including the Davis Cup. Among them are Sir Norman Brookes, Gerald Patterson, Frank Sedgman and Neale Fraser.
