I had a great experience with Dr. Ian Maxwell. He is very kind, supportive, helpful and knowledgable. His sense of humour was the cherry on top!
Negligent. Without reading my fathers file which states he has a high IQ and therefore a lot of tests that involve questions do not work to show his brain function he asked him a series of questions then proceeded to make statements about my fathers Alzheimer’s diagnosis that dismissed it’s legitimacy. My father is now struggling to accept the harsh reality because this rude and prehistoric doctor. We won’t be seeing him again and I strongly urge others to look elsewhere.
This is the BEST neurologist on the GC. Dr Maxwell shows such kindness, empathy and competence. Thank you for building my confidence, your care has made such a positive difference in my life. Thank you to the smiley Carrie for being the most prompt hardworking receptionist I’ve ever met.

Felt like dr Maxwell wasn’t really listening to me or couldn’t hear me as he kept talking over me. At my initial consultation he said I’d need to take my medication for long term. Unfortunately I lost my original prescription which still had couple repeats left and when I rang to get a new script emailed to me, I was asked to make an appointment and come in. I live over 100km away and wasn’t allowed to drive, he expected me to go see him so that he could give me another script! Money greedy and very irresponsible from a neurologist when I’m in his duty of care. Will not go back again.
I saw Dr Maxwell 2 days ago who correctly diagnosed me with a rare type of headache. So happy with the service.
Please get a 2nd opinion if you have seen this Neurologist, he failed to see a cyst and lesion in my right temporal lobe causing epilepsy. He was a week wait to get into where as other top neurologists on the Gold Coast if you do your research are a 6months wait, do yourself a favour and don't waist your time and money.
What a fantastic Doctor. He is very competent and professional. He also has a great sense of humour, which makes for a relaxing examination.
Experienced neurologist who is philosophical in his approach and has a sense of humour. Receptionist is excellent.
This man ruined my life , misdiagnosed as a kid , now in a wheelchair, thanks Ian
