Great quantity and flavor. The ayran was thick and so yummy.
We have been here quite a few times, and it is consistently great service, with friendly and attentive staff, and the food is beyond AMAZING. Favourites are the mixed dip platter amazing smokey hommus with beautiful fresh bread, and the Adana! Desserts, can't go past the chocolate baklava and tea! Highly recommended!!
I had my 30th birthday here. The price was very reasonable. The food was fantastic. It was a lovely atmosphere and the people there were very friendly. I highly recommend Matee, especially for large groups. We didn't have to wait very long for our food and everyone left satisfied.
I've been past this place numerous times but had never tried it. Finally went last night with group of friends and i have to say that this was by far the best Turkish food i have eaten in Newtown and definitely one of the best in Sydney! everything we ordered was fresh, the rice, mixed grill, the dips - all spot on at a decent price and generous servings. also a really nice cosy atmosphere with a traditional Turkish look and feel not to mention the friendly staff. whether its your first date or big group - i can highly recommend it. keep up the good work guys and i'll see you again soon! My friends and I really enjoyed our banquet on Friday night. We sat outside away from other patrons which is great so that we can talk loudly, etc. They made gluten free options for myself which I loved. The baklava and turkish delight for dessert was loved by all! Will definitely be back!
The most delicious, freshest and well priced Turkish food in Sydney. The perfect place to meet up with friends that you actually love as the ambiance in this South end of King Street Gem is as incredible as the food AND they also deliver. LOVE!!!!
I would have to admit that I dine in or order take out from here far too often but that isn't a bad thing because the food is fantastic! Everything is so tasty and fresh. Eating in, I recommend the banquet because it is reasonably priced and you get to try a bit of everything. For takeaway, you can't go past a wrap, chips and some freshly made baba ganoush. Depending on the size of your tummy, you might want to order a pide too.. : Tip: there is a small outdoor area that is perfect for dining on a warm evening.
OMG. This is the BEST Turkish cuisine in Newtown. Amazing food. Awesome staff. Very busy little restaurant. Book for Thu, Fri and Sat or no chance of getting in. Home delivery also available in local area.
Food is awesome and really good value. Def the best turkish food in Newtown. Dont leave without trying the lamb shish and the delicious dips. You can bring your own wine. Perfect for large groups or a date with someone special.
We're dying of hunger when we came here. We're served with freshly made falafels and house special pide. These two just melted in our mouths so we expected more for our main. However, the meat platter wasn't good enough as Empire Turkish. The chicken has no spice at all and the lamb had a strong aftertaste. And for dessert, I had Revani which I enjoyed - it's a moist semolina cake with coconut and honey. We're satisfied with customer service, a bit pricey though and hoping we'll be served with beautiful meat next time.
