It's tough to find a place like this in Australia, a place where history and nature combines to create a perfect holiday retreat for those looking to explore. Walking trails, cycling trails, no cars, access only by boat and the only food is what you take. And wombats everywhere. A few Tassie Devils, and plenty of Geese as well amongst the Joeys. Seemingly so much to do in so little time. A definite highlight of the holiday

Had a wonderful time here! No cars in the island but you can hire bikes for $33 a day in it's totally worth! There are three campsites, two are free and you have to walk a few hours to arrive there. The other one it's placed near the ferry arrival and has kitchen, drinkable water and showers. Be ready to meet a lot of wild animals. Totally loved this place

We just spent a great day on Maria Island, we hired mountain bikes for $33 each for the day as there are no cars allowed, the roads can be rough and sandy in places but nothing that these well maintained bikes cannot handle. We only rode to Return Point which is about half way along the island and returned to the dropoff point and did some more exploring, there is lots to see and there are native animals everywhere.

Fantastic place to get up close to Tasmania’s wildlife. Their are no cars allowed on the Island apart from a few service vehicles. But bicycles are allowed or you can hire some which I recommend doing.

An awesome day out with my young teenage boys & husband. We hired bikes $20ea for the day & set off to discover kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, birds & lovely scenery. The layered history is interesting & we would have loved more time to explore the wilderness. Would be a great place to camp for a few days.
