I don't think we'll be visiting this place again unless they start focusing on cooking traditional Malaysian food with real Malaysian flavours and not a watered down version. We just got take away dinner from here tonight after craving some Malaysian beef rendang. Sadly the rendang was disappointing. I'm not sure if you can even call it a rendang or even a beef curry. Tasted like salt and beef, no rendang flavours. Although the beef was cooked well and tasted fresh. Their Mee Goreng was the highlight of our dinner experience here. Make sure to get their spicy sambal sauce for an extra spice. The martabak was okay, but the sauces didn't have any flavours. The green sauce tasted like almost nothing. The curry sauce was the same as the rendang.
A hidden Malaysian food restaurant in UNSW. If is not because my friend who brought me in, I wouldn’t have known this place. Worth trying if you’re nearby. Environment 5/5 Hidden in the campus, not too crowded and quite spacious in the restaurant. Service 5/5 You can order your food by yourself using the kiosk and punch in the number you could get beside the kiosk. Then the staff will bring the food to you. Staff is friendly and I guess they are mostly students. Nasi lemak 5/5 Very fragrant rice and love the sambal. Peanuts and anchovies are crunchy too. Chicken is tender and the portion is quite generous I gotta say. Will I come back again? 5/5 Yeah of course if I’m around this area.
Portion’s okay, worth the price. Don’t know if it’s due to my high spice tolerance but the extra spicy option for the beef noodle soup wasn’t spicy at all, so that was disappointing. The overall taste of the dish was also not to my liking - couldn’t finish the beef Will not be dining here again, I think…
It is so nice to have a taste of home close by. As a Malaysian who is old enough to have eaten the original Roti Hawaii from Murni in SS2, I can say this is a decent place where the food is actually Malaysian. For all the reviewers complaining that the taste is off, well this is pretty close to what I grew up eating. The spices are strong, lots of cloves and star anise in the rendang. The char koay teow has the “wok breath”, and the chicken rice chilli is actually chilli. The spices have not been watered down. Great place and I have eaten here many times and will keep doing so. I hope the hot drinks come back soon!
Poor service, poor food that both my friend and myself could NOT even finish. Money, tho, paid for normal range of service and food. Would never return again; and will encourage friends not to go, unless you wanna a huge disappointing experience.
Disappointed…. Ordered char kway teow and spring roll from MLC food court. Spring roll was still icy cold inside and noodle came with eggshells.
Malaysian-Singapore cuisine. Nestled in heart of UNSW campus, popular among uni students. Hokkien prawn mee soup and roti bomb are our favourites, although the nasi lemak was tasty too. Portions are a little small, consistent with prices ~$13. Plenty of seating available.
Surprisingly tasty and cheap Malaysian food on Campus at UNSW. The food came quickly with no nonsense within 10 minutes of ordering. Highly recommended!
Food was very oily and the chicken in our Laksa was very old and dry, the bean curds tasted funny too. The lady who served us didn't bother wearing a mask and neither did the rest of the staff. Very disappointing.
The food is ok but I don't like they serve u everything in disposable cheap things even you dine in in the restaurant. Everything including cups for water, plates and cutlery are one time use. It's bad for environment and it is just not a pleasant experience eating with plastic plastic forks and cups in a proper restaurant.
