Maelstrom Hairdressing

Lovely salon and lovely staff. I always find hairdressers to be a bit hit or miss, as I have quite dry and curly hair. I did go there early last year so this review is a little delayed. In this case I found that while she did a good job with my hair straightened, she didn't take the time to cut it when it was curly, and so bounced up a bit funny when I washed it. She also pushed products quite heavily, which I understand is part of the job, but they were more about smoothing and straightening my hair than allowing it to curl nicely and naturally. I would still recommend them, as they provide a number of beauty services and the staff are all welcoming and lovely, but I wouldn't get my hair cut there again just because of what my hair needs.

YOU CAN'T WRITE A REVIEW OF FB WHERE THEY DO MOST OF THE ADVERTISING, STRANGE THAT? BEWARE! Maelstrom was once amazing when Mana Dave was there. Unfortunately all the Facebook sales going on aren't worth it. It says $200 for great deals like ombré and get rid of brassy orange but it's untrue. I paid $570 in 4 weeks the first time Ely was lovely but my hair looked nothing like the picture and then I msgd and said I'm not happy went back following week for another toner which the manager wanted me to pay for & they'd give it as half price, I said no not that I was aware of and why would I pay when the job wasn't done properly in the first place. Still not happy had to wait a month before taking my family on a lovely trip to Rarotonga thinking my hair will finally be fixed. Nope instead it got worse the bridging bit that was already lightened the first time was brassy orange yes I have black hair and I know what it should look like when it's been dyed/bleached. I sent a msg while on holiday had to wait for a reply on Tuesday after I msgd again as I was totally disappointed asked for some type of refund or part of my money back as this was a terrible job & I didn't want to get my hair done again or talk to the manager who would try talk me out of this. They also go through all the products and leave the products on top of your stuff, and try sell you products when you already don't like your current hair colour. I would never ever recommend this store to anyone. I only went to the salon because it had a special & Mana made that store amazing yrs ago now there are no clients. The three times I went maybe one or two clients max. My hair was also so dried and damaged I had to get it cut again after getting it cut from Maelstrom so my hair can get stronger and fixed up in another month or so. Halo beauty softened the brassyness for an affordable price. Be careful about where you spend your money!

Just awesome. Very friendly, askwhat you want and comes with ideas. Loved it and will be back....
