A very popular eatery among locals of Melbourne. It is operated by Malaysians and sells traditional santan curry. The curry at Laksa Village is rich and aromatic, with a perfect balance of spices that create a warm, comforting flavor. It often has a creamy texture from coconut milk, complemented by hints of lemongrass and a slight heat that lingers. The blend of herbs and spices makes each bite a delightful experience, especially when paired with noodles or mee hon.
Lassa Village - DonvalenReview updated on 25/09/2024nnI found the interior decor and seating arrangement quite uncomfortable. The room felt claustrophobic due to the dark ambiance and tightly packed furniture.nnWe ordered Marmite Chicken, Sweet and Sour Pork, King Prawns, and Hoh Fun. While the flavours were generally good, the noodle dish was a bit runny, and serving it in a bowl felt inappropriate. Overall, the presentation was slapdash and hence rather disappointing.nnAlthough there is not a nearby competitor, it’s important to note that small details matter.n_______________nnReview on 14/6/2024nnIt is strategically located at one corner of an intersection, not far from Eastlink exits.nnOn a cold winter night, even with the reverse-cycle air conditioner was switched on full blast, the temperature in the restaurant was not much better than outside.nnThe reception / ordering area at the front was rather packed with customers ordering takeaway, and those waiting to be seated. The seat8ng arrangement was a bit squeezy.nnAlthough the shop's name Laksa Village sounds very much Malaysian, but their Cantonese food were beyyer than many restaurants. However, the presentation was a bit let down, with a couple of dishes served on incorrect under-size plates, with food overhanging the rims. Furthermore, I expected the Yam Basket to be bigger.nnIf you are steam-fish lover, then avoid the deep-fried option. You may find the meat too dry. The plus side was in the assam sauce.nnThe desserts were definitely below par. The ice-shavings could be finer. The iced cedol, had a unusual taste. I wonder it was from the water that made into ice block, or from the coconut milk satan. The coconut milk was not creamy at all and the cedol strips a bit hard.nnThe special mixed ice did look appetising, but once again, the kack-flavour palm sugar syrup gipula melaka was not doing justice to it.nnIn summary, the staff that served us was helpful and friendly, the flavour of the dishes was authentic. However, I did experienced very cold feet. I have to mark down the presentation and the desserts.
Food was tasty and authentic.nService could be more friendly.nSome waiters see you but still walk away as if you were invisible. It was busy and the noise was expected.
Been here a number of times and feel that they have been consistently good with their laska and noodle dishes. Highly recommend their bbq pork belly - it is fantastic!!!nnI was disappointed with their chicken rice it was cold and lack luster.nnThe restaurant gets very busy but you can call to book a table. They like to have their air con on even in winter so it can get quite cold.nnThe price has gone up but the serving size has not. I don't feel the price reflects the quantity. Still left feeling hungry after their pan mee but it was delicious.nnTheir rojak whilst tasty is very very expensive for the size and the ingredients apple, pineapple and cucumber.nnStaff were polite and food came quickly.nnOverall we really do enjoy the food at Laksa Village and will be back. I just wish the serving size was larger.
Always a treat when we come here. From the friendly staff to the owner Anne’s hospitality, it is a lovely experience time and time again. This time we had something simple as it was a quick meal. Delicious.
