This is one of the most famous tourist place in North Island. Beautiful area & lake is just next to the Taupo town center. We had our lunch under the green shadow on the lake shore. You can swim in the lake if you are visiting in summer. And also be aware of the birds that's approaching you asking for the foods be careful. Sometimes they aggressive. You can easily buy the foods from the shops across the road & have it on the lake shore. There are lots of water activities going on there too.

First time at Taupo in 20 years and I wish I had never left. It ticked all our box's and we loved it. Stay and have fun for a few days.

EXCELLENT PLACE BESIDE THE LAKE AT THE SOUTHERN END OF TAUPO. BOAT RAMP WHARF. TOILET FACILITIES AND CAMPER R.V. DISPOSABLE WASTE STATION. ALSO PICNIC TABLES. CHOICE AREA.

Great lake, wish I had brought a tent and I would have gotten a camping site by the lake instead of a hotel.
