Beautiful lake with a nice walking/cycling track around it offering views of the surrounding mountains and the changing colours of the autumn leaves. Lots of water birds to be seen including geese, ducks and crested grebes.
Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful!! Stayed in Arrow Town and came across Lake Hayes on our way to Queenstown early 2020, very picturesque Lake.
A breath taking mirror lake with a well maintained flat track around it for a nice stroll. Dog and pram friendly as well. Not that much parking, but it’s usually not that busy. Come in any season and be amazed by this beautiful wee natural attraction :

The walk around the lake only takes two hours at a fast pace and there are locations to have a picnic

If you are looking for somewhere quieter than Queenstown then Lake Hayes is a great location. Lots of shade and crystal clear waters. Nice and quiet too.
