Lake Alford

We stopped here on a trip down to Brisbane with our two little boys. Perfect to let them get out and run around and burn off some energy before they get back into the car. Lots of birds to look at (and chase around) too. We’ll be planning the same stop on future trips.

Very tidy park next to the main road through Gympie with plenty of bird life and turtles in the lake for visitors to enjoy. Grounds well kept and not full of bird droppings that make a mess everywhere and the paths are a good length for a quick stretch of the legs if using this as a place for a quick stop enroute to elsewhere. Small ones will enjoy the playground laid out for them and with the Gold Museum closeby this park has plenty for everyone to enjoy.

Walking paths are great and the play areas are awesome for kids with plenty of seating and outdoor BBQ areas, however the lake itself leaves much to be desired. It is incredibly unclean and I've actually seen ducks get trapped and flap their wings desperately trying to untangle their legs from the weeds. There is also rubbish on a lot of the grass. Could be worse but could be a lot better.

If its bird photos you want this is the place to visit. A great area for a picnic with lots of tables around the lake. Thanks to the Lions for a great place 😁
