Situated on the border of Queensland and New South Wales, only a few kilometres driver from the Gold Coast International Airport is the Kirra Beach Tourist Park which offers lodges, villas and camp/caravan sites but is a bit pricey for what is on offer. The lodges have to share a communal bathroom in which there is only one toilet/shower which means toilets are often not available when you need them. The location offers a swimming pool which appears to be well maintained. The cleanliness of the toilets and bathrooms is great as they are cleaned quite well each day by a cleaner that does the rounds around the park. There is a little shop here situated at the entrance/check-in area, however, this too is pretty pricey. The park also offers a games room and children's outdoor play area which seems to be very popular with the kids that were at the park. Now for the few negatives, as mentioned earlier this place is pretty pricey for what it offers, there was no outside lighting around the lodges making walking to and from the lodges pretty dangerous with tripping a big possibility. In the lodge I stayed in there was a smoke detector that would beep all night every two to three nights but when I reported this nothing was done. Surrounding the Kirra Beach Tourist Park is some of South East Queensland's best beaches and fishing locations and only a few kilometres away there is The Strand Shopping Centre. Public transport is also available and is only a few hundred metres away which can take you in either direction north to the Gold Coast or south to Tweed Heads. At the back of this tourist park is a creek which provides a some spectacular sunsets, there is also fish (what I'm assuming is bream) in this creek which leaps out of the water quite often.

Receptionist was really friendly, bathroom and showers were always clean and open. Also, the fact that the reception has a mini grocery store available was also great given the fact that we had just arrived and were really eager to start cooking. There are also washing machines available, microwaves and a pool.

Conveniently located, 5 minutes walk to the beach and cafes. Off street parking, washing machine provided as well as all kitchen stuff makes it great for staying for a week or more. Local shops are within a 5 minute drive for anything you need or may have forgotten at home.

Great caravan park. Kid friendly. A bit of a walk to the beach so bring your bike

Modern facilities, large pool, spacious sites, friendly staff, can't fault it and Kirra is close to a number of good surf clubs and shops but far enough away from the madness of Surfers to be very relaxing
