Spacious, clean rooms with comfortable beds. The one downside is the noise. Cars are less audible, but if there’s a train going by every hour/30mins it will be loud and will shake the room a little bit. The downsides just come with the convenient location, the motel being across from the McDonald’s, Servo and Pizza restaurant. Would upgrade the internet and sound proofing. Very nice place to stay
Older place to stay at in small town , was very clean and tidy , beds were ok , was hot day when we were there , no air-conditioning , had fans in all rooms . Apparently it rarely gets that hot in this town so nobody had air-conditioning . The guy that runs the accommodation is very friendly and helpful , the downside at staying here is if you are a light sleeper it is a pretty noisy stay . Right on the main road which is a major truck route and freight train runs past the back of it .
Classic Kiwi hospitality with a retro vibenWe really enjoyed our stay at Kelly’s Motel. The host was incredibly friendly and eager to make us feel welcome — a great first impression that set the tone for the night. The cat, Kelly, was also a sweetheart and would have happily moved in with us if we’d let her!nnOur unit was very dated but clean, cosy, and charmingly retro, with a lovely private balcony out the back. Beds were a perfect firmness for us, although all the pillows were on the large side we prefer flatter ones. Shower pressure was adequate. No extras like tissues or spare pillows, but honestly, we didn’t miss them.nnIt was a nice surprise to be farewelled by the owner the next morning as we were driving out — a lovely human touch. Location-wise, it’s close to town but just on the edge, making it a handy launch point for the Forgotten World Highway. Would definitely stay again.
Very grateful to the manager for having room availability to stay at a motel. My family and I travelled so far it got dark and it's dangerous to keep driving at night with heavy rain, barely any cars or anyone around. This place is definitely worth staying at as it's clean, hospitable and affordable. Service is great and very friendly manager.
The rooms are clean and beds comfortable. Everything provided to start off your stay. Staff were very helpful.
