This place is fantastic! Amazing Japanese food done to perfection. I love how you order from the touch screen as it makes choosing your food much more exciting. A little hard to get to the restaurant but will always recommend it. They also serve half dishes so if u can’t decide between two dishes just get one half serve of each! The best of both worlds
Very good and filling Japanese-style food. We had a spicy Tantan Ramen and a Chicken Katsu Curry Udon. You order food on iPads at each table. The restaurant was rather quiet 7pm on a Wednesday and there was strange circus-like music playing that grew on us!
Full size kaisen don. Price does not match the portion. The fish is only a handful compared to rice. For the price of 14.90, not worth. Half size pasta come with broccoli. But only 1 broccoli
So my partner and I chanced on this store in the corner of this odd mall in Chatswood. There were a few red flags indicating to me about it such as 150 items on a menu and a slightly dingy place with slightly dim lights. But we opted to give this place a try due to the multiple good reviews. I ordered this 'Butter Ika' while my partner got a buta shogayaki. Now the reason I left my order in quotation marks was because the resulting 'ika' I got looked like squid rings smothered in a soy sauce. If I didn't know any better, I'd say the sauce was teriyaki sauce and the dish was thrown together in the kitchen using frozen squid rings. This makes their menu picture of expecting a really nice squid quite misleading. Furthermore, the slightly mushy texture tells me it was likely not fresh. The buta pork in Japanese was overcooked and uses a pretty similar soy / teriyaki sauce to the Ika. There is some additional ginger flavours that do ring true to what shogayaki should be, so at least that kind of nails the dish, just that the pork was tough and dry. However, I think the butter Ika fell really far from its presentation on the menu. As a 'popular' item on the menu, I was not sure if those words were meant in a misleading way. It did not help that reviews of the place gave it a pretty good expectation, and we came in at a relatively relaxed time, being the second pair of customers in the store during our visit. Understandably the cost of the food is relatively cheap and I should adjust my expectations. And I certainly was not expecting a smorgasbord of squid since that would be absurd. But I think that if there are places where food costs below 15 AUD and still satisfies basic criteria such as being cooked properly and with some attention to detail, I may have been kinder in my review. I suppose the caveat here is that it is inexpensive food that can fill you if you want something that is relatively Japanese in nature. I would not likely come here again though.
No nonsense japanese. Too pricey for the quality though inflation meant +$1 per menu item. The katsudon is a hard dish to get wrong, but somehow they did. Takoyaki and pork katsu curry were fair. Don't order a set since this automatically means +$2 to your bill.
Very affordable with a great variety of dishes on a variety of sizes. Service is great, friendly staff and quick service. A regular favourite with ample seating for any sized group. Highly recommend for a casual lunch or dinner.
Really good feed, value for money, tasty & fresh. Service was really good and the atmosphere was quiet and chilled. Couldn’t fault it. Especially appreciated the ‘half size’ menu for those with a smaller appetite.
This is a nice little restaurant tucked away at the back of the ground floor. The food is great, at a reasonable price. You order by iPad and the food is served very quickly. The best thing about this place is the ambient music. If you're lucky you will hear some recognisable tunes played with the abomination that is the recorder. I've been a few times and will continue to come back. We like this place.
It was my first time trying this restaurant. I loved how they have the option of half dish available which makes it so fun to try a range of variety. They come in reasonable quantity. I had ordered a rice dish and spicy miso ramen which was just yum! I will surely be back again.
This review is not about the food. We go here all the time. Today was a very disappointing experience. The new cashier/waiter is very rude. Not the usual one, a new one. He has an attitude problem. From the get go he was rude. Made mistake, swapped our dish with another table, expected us to be okay with the other dish. I said no. Then our dish finally came out, and he chucked a tantrum when we asked for our set, which usually come out together with the main. He banged the rice and miso soup at the end of the table. When my husband paid, he again still have the same stinky attitude banging the eftpos machine on the counter. We’re very disappointed.
