Jin Yan is the premier Asian dining destination in the Hill District. Jin Yan is a modern Asian Yum Cha & A La Carte restaurant that has been built to seat 200 people inside 80 people on the contemporary outdoor terrace.
with a seafood focus, the restaurant includes a number of live fish tanks for edible produce. the menu appeals to a wide spectrum of Asian tastes.
The Chinese name Jin Yan, stands for lavish banquet. "JIN'is use to describe things that are lavich, glamourous, splendid and colourful. "YAN" carries celebration & happiness. It mean banquet, function or formal dinner.

I would give this place no stars if it was an option. Went there last night and the biggest let down would be the tall young-looking male manager who wears glasses. If only I knew his name had I would named and shamed him! He had terrible customer service and was rude and arrogant, there wasn't even the slightest smile on his face. You could tell straight away with his body language. He must have been saying awful things to us Chinese. Never have I ever experienced such poor service. Shame on him! Clearly he doesn't know how to keep calm in stressful conditions, but don't bloody take it out on to your customers with your atrocious attitude. Get another manager who knows how to treat their customers right.

There's plenty of options here, and it's tasty. The staff are nice but the systems for serving aren't great - obviously they're pressured because they're busy and when you put your name down for a table they call your number and we got called in as our number came up and just before we were about to be seated, another party who they had been calling for for 15 minutes finally waltzed in and got pushed ahead of us so we were made to go back out to the waiting lounge - it's a bit unprofessional and disappointing after already having waited for over 30 minutes. We also ordered a separate noodle dish, asked for it three times and it never came. I would only go again not in peak times.

Food is ok, some days better than others and some dishes like wasabe beef is great. Pipi seemed old but usually ok. Don't expect outstanding service or a lot of similing and asking how everything is. But worth visiting

It's the only acceptable yum cha restaurant in the Hills district. Not great but not bad. Dinner can be a bit of a gamble sometimes.
