I had my baby delivered on 1st July 2022 through emergency c section at 39 weeks and 5 days. Nurses and midwives were very kind supportive and caring after delivery. They took good care of me and bub. The food was fantastic and had great choice. The room we were provided had all the facilities. Overall it was a great experience at Jessie McPherson Private Hospital
A fantastic experience, never thought I'd say that but truly everyone minus one nurse was lovely! Had an emergency surgery with them and then had to stay in for just over 1 week. The nurses were brilliant, the doctor was incredibly patient and actually listens to the patient. Yes I did have one nurse who I didn't like but she was an agency nurse. All students were also very lovely. I can't fault this place and definitely will be back if I need to. Oh and the food, well I am normally very fussy! But I loved it!!! Restaurant quality every time!
I have only been to this hospital once back in 2016 when my SIL was admitted there for her first childbirth. The whole hospital was run down with quad shared maternity wards. Had no private hospital feel to it. Fast forward to 2022-2023. I am giving birth in early 2023 and despite my preferred/booked hospital was cabrini malvern, my ob had been change of heart and strongly recommend I go to jessie mc due to my gestational diabetes. Despite the shock of the decision to change hospitals which I got over in a couple of days, the truly disgusting feeling came when I had my first antanatal telehealth appointment with the midwife. The midwife was nice and pleasant to talk to. However when she started describing hospital stay and visiting policy I was filled with dread all over again. Unlike other private maternity hospitals which has moved on from covid restrictions 60% of the way jessie mc is still stuck in year 2020 with strict covid measures. Absolutely no visitors are allowed to the postnatal ward during the 4 day stay. So forget about all those first moments that the babies grand parents could have with the baby fresh out of the oven. I was counting on the mental support of seeing my parents at the hospital after birth. You can never get those moments back after you miss them. Secondly, I was told I may not even get a room with a double bed. So my husband could be sleeping in a sofa in a tiny bedroom for all 3 of us. Their policy is first come best serve. Honestly that is pretty disgusting for a private hospital whose going to charge my insurer an arm and a leg. Every bloody private patient should get equal level of care and facilities and not this first come nonsense. This hospital is nothing but an attempt of money grabbing from Monash with minimum standards of private care. If you have a uncomplicated pregnancy, don't be swayed by nicu facilities. This is why jessie mc is always overbooked with patients who assumes something will go wrong, when many of them babies just needs level 2 or less care which other private hospitals can easily provide with better facilities.
I delivered my baby on October 2022.Rooms was good, food was fantastic and got lots of variety. Mid wife's was really good and supportive expected 2 person. Overall I will recommend to go with Jessie Mcpherson if you want. Only concern I had was, allow visitors during specific time.
My dad is in the cardiology ward and we have seen some very rude nurses. We asked for some hot water with a "please and thank you" and we were given a cold stare with silence. She then took the jug from our hands and when we recieved the water and said thank you - again, she did not respond nor even recognise our appreciation, instead she turned her back and walked away as if it was too much effort. As you can appreciate, being a family member of someone going through a heart surgery, it is very traumatising as it is. Least we expect is some human decency.
My little one was born here. Nurses were really helpful and very informative they looked after my partner real well gave her confidence and care. Genine one of the nurses there she gave us lot of information about caring our little one she was really awesome. Highly recommended
I ended up needing urgent spinal surgery during code Brown, even though the hospital is under staffed and flooded with patients. The nurse's looked after me so well! Simran, Rachel, Ashley, and many other on 31 south ward. Made my stay so much more manageable and caring. Can't thank them enough
Our little Son was born here. The nurses where absolutely amazing and went beyond to make our stay very welcoming and did everything to help our new born baby. I could highly recommend Jessie McPherson private hospital to anybody.
I recently gave birth to my first baby girl and would highly recommend Jessie McPherson Private Maternity Hospital and my obstetrian A/Prof Ryan Hodges. Throughout my pregnancy Ryan made me feel very relaxed and prepared, always having the time to answer my questions, discuss my options, recommendations and why that was the best option for us. I felt that he genuinely cared about both of us and making this the best experience possible. And when things didn't go as planned, it was a massive comfort to know I was in the best hands. I wouldn't hesitate to use Ryan again and he was worth every penny and some more. Our experience at Jessie Mac was equally as excellent, all the nurses and midwives both on the ward and in the birth suite especially Caroline in birth suite, she was amazing! were fantastic. They always had the time to answer any questions I had, make sure I was aware of my options for pain relief during the labour and post. And they were on hand to help us find our way as first time parents, especially making sure little one was feeding ok and helping when she just wouldn't settle. It was a great comfort to me to be able to have my partner with us throughout, despite the covid situation. Similarly I wouldn't hesitate to use Jessie Mac again.
Our baby was born at Jessie McPherson hospital and we stay there for 4 days. We got a private room with bathroom, which is great, but we didn’t live in birth suit initially, since there is a a waiting time and we waited for two nights. The meal is great, we got three meals plus morning and afternoon tea, which should be nutritious and good for mom and baby. The most annoying part is the services we got from nurses, some nurses are quite rude and didn’t teach us how to feed the baby properly. Well it may because of Covid and they got a large amount of babies to care, but still it is not acceptable since at least we need to learn how to feed the baby. To be fair, some nurses are quite helpful but maybe only half nurses we met like that. When we were discharged, there is a person leading us to the reception to pay the excess fee and sign some documents, but after we paid the fee, we are on our own. They didn’t even send a nurse to ensure that we have put the baby into car seat properly, even I requested that, they just said “ unfortunately we don’t have a nurse for you, you need to learn fast”….
