We ordered a lamb pie, some scallop pies, and a sourdough roll for our table.nnThe pies were quite flaky, although not entirely so. The lamb pie was nice. The lamb inside is the sort you’d expect from any other beef/lamb pie - gravy-based?.nnThe scallop pies, which are unique, were OK. The filling was, unfortunately, overpowered by the chutney/curry taste which was mixed into the filling. I would’ve preferred to be able to appreciate the taste of the scallop more.nnSourdough roll was disappointing for a place that prides itself as “bakers of fine breads, cakes, and pastries.” Not enough crust on the outside, and not enough alveoli on the inside.

Extensive pie and pastry options. Scallop pie filling was great. Pie crust a little dry, could be better. Nice rustic interior. 1 particular lady staff was not in a good mood
Coffee was a little better than average. Breakfast was nice. Eggs Benedict my go to was good.nnCakes are def the go here.nnReally think this place is a cake shop that is trying to be more. Had the potential to be better. Ordered a potato rosti with my eggs Benedict and they came with another dish entirely whitch had the rosti as the base. The chef noted the waitress must have messed up the order . He noted we are a bakery and everything is pre-prepared so ordering a rosti on the side is not possible. Interesting comment though - everything is pre-prepared. Thought bubble - invest in another chef and offer the choice to customers. Anyway the chef gave us the rosti which was nice :- cheers to that.nnWifey had the scallop pie and she was impressed.nnWorth a visit but maybe stick to the cakes and pastries.
Ordered a pork, apple and sage sausage roll and it is so juicy and wholesome. Much too big for one sitting but who doesn’t love generous portions! I also tried the Lamb and rosemary pie which has such an abundant amount of lamb! Just great for a meal with a side of veg really! The pastry, the know what they’re doing.. this is how pastry should be! Wow.
