Ingleside Bakery Cafe

About

Licensed Cafe, Bakery and Gallery

Story

Ingleside is a licensed cafe and bakery situated in the Georgian village of Evandale in Northern Tasmania. The business employs 18 staff and has been run by Steve and Jane Shaw for the last 27 years. The building is a classically designed former Council Chamber built in 1867 with a walled garden courtyard and a traditional Scotch wood fired oven. We have established a herb garden where we grow herbs and some vegetables to supply the cafe. We have excellent art for sale and a large selection of Tasmanian jams, olive oils, wines, sauces and gifts. We welcome dogs to come into the courtyard and have some excellent magazines to read whilst sitting by the fire with a freshly ground Bruno Rossi coffee. Open every day except public holidays.

A friend in Perth WA, said that we must go your bakery for lunch while we were in Tasmania, so today we did. We each ordered a pastie and a fruit slice and there are not enough words to describe how delicious they were. Neither if us have eaten anything to compare with them. We were so full, that I had to take my slice with me and we were still too full to be able to eat dinner this evening. It was a fantastic lunch eaten in your gorgeous courtyard - thank you!

This was a great place to have breakfast . Really nice sourdough toast with eggs Benedict . The quiche were very tasty too. We were served by Kelly she had a great smile and happy to accomodate our specific requests. Would def come back !!!!

Great cafe! get a table outside, great view and beautiful garden at the back you can walk through. Food is a bit $$ but taste good, smells good so really, i mean everything in TAS is a bit $$ these days The entire town/area of Evandale is feels like and olden time small town, it has a nice charm to it. Park and walk through the town.

Open until 4pm... but when you arrive at 3.30pm to find staff packing up, emptying the displays and already cleaning the coffee machine it is a bit hard to rate the food. Shop was full... And there were 5 of us prepared to spend money but they didn't want it. We were also prepared to visit other local businesses but drove on to find food. Very poor customer service, sorry guys but you need to do better.

The food was very good. But the service is poor. It took forever to deliver the food even if it was not extra busy. Also, there is insufficient guidance on how the order system works. You have to order at the counter. We waited for about 10 minutes at the table, nobody informed us and just ignored us at the table. The table was full of dirty dishes from previous customers and it was not cleaned for a long time while we sat at the table.
