Stayed in a house managed by Independent, they were completely hopeless. Never gave us any notice time for inspections and never answered phones or replied to voice messages or email. Also it took them 3 weeks to lodge our bond refund form after the inspection.

I dealt with Luisa Solar earlier this year between Jan-May 2017 regarding my bond as I moved from the apartment that was with Independent Property. I moved out completely in the beginning of Feb 2017 with everything done correctly on my behalf and as asked. I like the apartment in pristine condition. As emailing was the only way communication was due as the phones were never answered, being told by Luisa herself over email that my bond would be back to me within the next 4 weeks as it was just lodged by her. Beginning of May came around after continuous emails to Luisa regarding my bond requesting where it was as I hadn’t received it and emails back from Luisa stated the bond was definitely lodged and that I had to contact the bond office as she didn’t have control over it anymore. Emails kept going and Luisa eventually stated that she never lodged the bond like she was meant to in the beginning and that I had to refill out a new amended bond form for it to be lodged again. Finally got my bond back after 3 months of nagging her week in and week out. Overall worst company to deal with in general and the customer service is poor. Luisa constantly lying over email which is silly as I’ve kept them all regarding the bond. Wouldn’t recommend renting with Independent Property Group.

I have rented many times in the past but this company continues to make mistake, after mistake, after mistake with no accountability. It was almost impossible to get through to our property manager as they never answered their phone, returned our calls or replied to our emails. In  our 16 month lease we had 8 property managers but were never once being advised that they had changed. The receptionist is no assistance and will only transfer you to someone else who doesn't answer their phone. Maintenance was almost impossible to get done, we were told when we moved in the exhaust fan was to be fixed and to send through the measurements which I did straight away, again it was never followed up by anyone plus many things on top of this that took chasing from us to be fixed, many times WEEKS to even get an acknowledgement. On top of a horrific rental experience the bond refund process is APPALLING! It is now going on 6 weeks since our final inspection, 5 weeks since us handing the bond form back, signed and correct, and we find out yesterday that it hasn't even been lodged yet! The only breath of fresh air in this whole experience was Sophia during the open homes when we were leaving. She assisted where she could and ensured we knew everything that we needed to know. Her communication and correspondence was fantastic! Though based on our entire experience with this company we would never recommend them to anyone and we will certainly never be having any other dealings with them.

I was renting through them less than 5 years ago. With a witness, I inspected the property twice. Upon moving in, I discovered that all those rugs on the top of the carpet, during inspection times, were covering huge stains. The carpet looked horrible. The agent's (Leah Bates) response was "there is nothing you can do now".
The only source of air in the living room, a balcony door, had fly net broken, and with possums coming in from the outside, it was impossible to leave it open - but the fly screen was never repaired, after complaints being made for months.
I had power outages when trying to use 3 electrical appliances - no response.
Leah Bates - the agent, did not return the bond when I left, although I left as per written agreement. I had to take her to Tribunal, where she claimed that I left unclean apartment and that she could not rent the unit for the same price after me (well hello, as now people could see the gorgeous carpet in full light). She threaten me with a lawyer... I was new to Australia and I let her keep half of my bond. Scary first experience.
The disgusting company with no morals at all.

I am so so so so very disappointed in the poor customer service Independent has shown us since we started renting with them. The staff turn over is crazy high as we have been assigned 3 different PMs since June! Our emails regarding maintenance issues have been disregarded, not attended to and not passed on when staff have left. We have continuously tried contacting the PM for months to have these issues addressed, and we have either been ignored or told they will be followed up but nothing gets done about it. 
I really wish I had done my research before renting with them because all the reviews I have read on here are all exactly what we are currently experiencing. I do not recommend renting with Independent, they are absolutely useless.
