We recently dined at illido to celebrate my husband's birthday, and while we had high hopes, the experience fell a bit short, especially considering the price. The food was just okay, the pasta was nice we enjoyed it, and the antipasti was ok the tempura fish was probably the highlight of the menu, but nothing stood out as exceptional. I think we just expected it to be great as it was recommended by our friends.nThe service was quite slow—we waited a while for our mains. After we finished, we had to wait again for someone to clear our plates and bring us the bill. We didn’t get offered any dessert or coffee, especially for a special occasion. We ended up paying at the cashier just to wrap things up as we were still waiting around to pay the bill. I really wanted to love this spot.nnHonestly, we dined here because we had a voucher to use. Would we return? Probably not.
We visited for lunch and ordered the broccoli gnocchi. The taste was okay. I was not impressed with it and the quantity was very little compared with the standard of pastas in WA. The server was lovely. They do not have high chairs. I would buy their coffee again but not the food.
If you are after non-generic pasta and lasagna, and proper restaurant dishes, this is the place to go. Their tiramisu is amazing, it's moist, has an aromatic coffee taste, the cream is light and topped off with quality bitter chocolate - simply divine!

The market fish, wagu gnocchi and rocket salad. A highlight of my dining experience in Western Australia. Proper Italian food that delivers a sophisticated combination of flavours and texture. Everything we ordered hit the spot.nnThings we ordered:nCrispy Potato Skins MUST ORDER —> This will be cemented in my head as one of the best potato dishes I’ve had in life. Each slice maintains the balance of the heartiness of the potatoes and the crisp that enchants. And the tomato aioli wraps everything nicely.nMushroom Gnocchi MUST ORDER —> The mushroom medley is far from being monotonous, each mushroom’s texture and flavours were highlighted nicely, and the macadamia crunch was just a perfect accompaniment.nOrecchiette with Sausages MUST ORDER —> The ear shaped pastas were delightful to scoop, and the beans and sausages are balanced pairs of crunch and meatiness.nClam TagliatellennA perfect stop before enjoying the beach at Cottesloe just 5 minutes away.
