New Zealand’s only prawn fishing park is packed full of fun activities for the whole family.
Catch as many prawns as you can, and eat anything you catch! Take a guided tour through our nursery and hatchery and hand-feed baby prawns. Explore the extensive park and play on the aqua trike, pedal boats and so much more! The Riverside Restaurant serves delicious meals with a stunning view. Be aware, you will want to stay all day!

Such an excellent way to spend a day. We arrived at opening with the intention of only staying a few hours, next thing we're leaving at 3. So much to do, our kids just loved it! You also have the option to come and go as you please within the same day. Just brilliant.

What a disappointment. We took our 4 yr old thinking it would be fun to catch some prawns. However that is not the experience at all. Of all the people around us we saw 2 prawns caught over a few hours. The fish in the water eat the bait and at $29 per adult it was very expensive. Hard to entertain kids if there is no prawns.

Took the kids here for a few hours and ended up staying the whole day. Great experience with a variety of activities to do - while the prawn fishing is the highlight there are fish, boating, interactive activities and a nature walk. The one downside is the place is such fun that is does get a lot of people - hard to fault the place for this.

**This review is only for the restaurant in the huka prawn park**
We did not have time to do the prawn park tour but decided to have lunch at the restaurant. Good food, amazing produce - prawns, but tad overpriced. Also, the minimum prawn bucket was 1/2 kilo, which was quite a lot for even 2 people to finish. They probably need to introduce a quarter kilo variant too. Desserts were simple, but tasty. Service could be a bit better.

Had a fantastic day trying to catch our lunch, with no success mind you. Also a swing of golf as well. Lunch was very tasty with a great lesson learnt about theses little creatures that live in recycled warm mineral water. Prawns are originally from Malaysia.
