02.08.2022 1st time here and a little unimpressed compared to my local UK branch. Main entrance is being renovated so follow the signs. One ATM inside, 2 tellers/cashiers desks. Lots of seating for waiting customers for Premiere banking. Very quiet branch, not many staff readily available for customers unlike in UK.
This bank boasts that customers can open account online without having the need to walk-in to a HSBC branch. Knowing that, I attempted to open an online account with all my id proofs. However, their online account opening form does not support long names and I couldn't enter my full legal name because of this issue! As a result, the bank rejected my application to open the account and asked me to walk in to the nearest branch. The nearest branch is 45 minutes away and the sales person advised it is mandatory for customers with long names to open accounts with HSBC manually by walking into a branch! If the bank makes the life difficult with account opening itself, I suspect it would be any easier post starting to bank with them! It is a shame for such a reputed bank to be unable to open online accounts for people like me with long names. I would never bank with them as I feel unsupported and discriminated!
I am a returning Australian citizen and, having just returned to Brisbane, needed to get new debit and credit cards from HSBC. Preeti at the HSBC counter was very helpful and patient in processing my application and I am grateful to her for all the assistance she provided. A week later I was assisted by Echo or Shumin Chen who greatly helped me to open my bank account and changed my debit card pin. Thank you so much for your great assistance - they do things differently from the UK in Australia and so I was appreciative of any help provided.

HSBC blocked by account for 9 days. Unable to get any customer service for an explanation. Without a doubt the worst customer service of any organisation anywhere in the world.
First dealings with Brisbane Branch over a year ago was poor. Incessant questions and slow. This time not too bad. Even eventually offered a seat to the disabled. Well done! Follow up dealings with Phone Banking were 1 star. As with other reviews here, they seem to be really have too many issues and lacking in fixing problems. Speak to 3 different people, and hours in the phone. One step above Hopeless.
Bought things on ebay securely, blocked my card, a random agent promised will send my card asap, waited a week, another agent said the replacement card had never been issued, basically I can't do anything for a whole two weeks, avoid at all cost
The trainee who greeted us was the best thing about this place. Horrible service in a language that can barely be described as English. We took our business elsewhere. Do better, HSBC.
This place is just hopeless. From the staff to the manager will try their best to offer minimal help. If you need help don’t even bother to go into there. Go figure it out yourself might be quicker and easier
I created an account online, went to the branch because I was told to verify my identity, however I was not told to make a booking prior. Upon arriving at this specific branch in the city, I was informed that I had to make a booking and that they were fully booked. I was skeptical, went to try out to verify at the HSBC branch in sunnybank, and was told I could open an account and verify without any booking. Successfully, verified and completed my account application. Felt like the branch just saw I was Chinese and didn't want to let me open an account there but who knows?
