The cinema is convenient to access with public transport. The room was clean and big but the seats are old and lost their initial confort. The facilities overall are quite old and need to be refurbished especially the toilets which need a real refurbishment and cleaning. You have few shops to buy drinks and snacks. The experience was ok but for the price you could expect much better.
This is one of the worst cinemas I’ve ever had to misery of attending and should be an embarrassment to the Hoyts brand. We arrived for a 12:10 film only to find the previous film still running, after waiting for 20 minutes past the stated start time we have up and decided to leave the cinema. We then had to wait 15 minute for a manager to arrive to refund our tickets as the staff at the counter aren’t able to do this. To make matters worse the venue was damp and musty with half full buckets of water throughout the foyer, disgusting.
We came all the way from Hornsby to watch Dragon Ball Super on the 10th September 2022 only to find out that due to a power failure, the cinema was not running any films. We had prepurchased the tickets and while the staff promised that they would give a refund for 2 people, they failed to do so. We were advised to cancel the booking online, but the website had crashed and the only option was to send emails to Hoyts via Contact us and also the bot. So 2 emails were sent. We were not contacted by anybody after this point. We want the money back ASAP.
On Christmas Eve I went to watch a movie - Avatar. 45 min after film started we’ve been approached by the team member saying “someone complained, come on guys you have to leave now get up” showing the gesture to our faces. This was completely unexpected and unbelievably rude. Yes, we’ve been exchanging few phrases, so did everyone else in a cinema room. However, the way April the team member approached us was an accusation without any explanation whatsoever. She was standing next to us raising her voice, continue showing gestures and threatening that she’ll call security and police for 10 min. In my opinion ruining the experience not only for us, but for everyone else too. So, we’re stunned by her wonderful customer skills and requested her supervisor who showed up covering his face with mask and refusing to give his name. We’ve taken the incident outside and tried to understand what they want from us. However, April kept being rude raising her voice and Her Supervisor apparently doesn’t have any idea about communication in a first place. It seems that April took this very personal and her actions reminded me of a little child that got upset cause her parents didn’t take her to a theme park she loves. Very unprofessional. Her Supervisor once again NO Name person didn’t deescalate the situation, but made it worse. No leadership, no communication, no customer service skills. In fact, he put it all on his team member who he supposed to lead. They’re absolutely in a wrong industry and shouldn’t be at front of the house rules. Both have no people skills or even basic etiquette knowledge like keep distance from other people, don’t gesture to your customer’s face, don’t yell at them etc Can’t believe someone could’ve done on Christmas Eve! Even security on duty agreed that this was not right but of course he’s there to solve the conflict by removing one party from another.
I love hoyts! Staff get along with each other and customers, I come here all the time with my partner for new movies. Definitely an amazing cinema if you’re not fussy
Probably most unclean cinema I've been to. Rubbish on all the bathrooms sinks, all the cinema seats all stained and gross and wrappers and popcorn everywhere from the session before us. During the session kids were running around yelling and shining torches in peoples faces, turning lights in the cinema on and not a single employee around. Will avoid this one in future.
How not to run a cinema My first trip back in more than probably 10 years and I doubt I’ll return. If you’re not a regular visitor to Warringah Mall, good luck finding the car park in and out, signage is atrocious. The concession stand for your popcorn, drinks and choctops is a peculiar set, you line up to order, get a ticket to queue up to collect what you’ve ordered, despite everything being behind the servers taking your initial order. Talk about adding unnecessary complications to a simple system for no benefit. I wouldn’t mind except the choctop was barely edible. The toilets were a death trap, the water on the floor made it very slippery The final and most impactful experience was the audience. Allocated seating seemed to be optional to some, then walking over seats to get to random new ones, constant chattering throughout the movie, broken seats so the person in front of me almost hitting my legs with his seat back. Needless to say I won’t be returning. I’ll stick to my local Palace cinema.
This cinema is looking very tired and is wayyyyyy overdue for a renovation, the seats are at varying angles so sitting next to your friends isn’t always a comfortable experience, the dated curtains and stale smell as you enter is also a nice bonus! For now I’d suggest you take the drive to Chatswood, the comfort and yourself break experience leaves Brookvale in the dust. The staff are lovely at this location, so come one HOYTS, you are the only major cinema in the areas, show some love!!!
Went to Elvis 8.40pm session last night. Theatre was full of rubbish and not cleaned. Pop Corn and rubbish all over seats and everywhere on the floor. No staff taking tickets, could easily have gone in without paying. Rubbish bins were full and all other movie goers were complaining as well. Ladies Toilets smelt like urinals and unhygienic. Totally not a managed theatre at all.
I generally really like this cinema, it has this pleasant old-time feeling of going to the movies. As many other reviews stated, it needs a bit of refurbishment and modernisation and the programming isn’t vers good e.g. no regular family/ kids matinees. The only thing that really upsets me every time is the awefull smell in most of the rooms! How hard can it be to get that out, really?! Try a bit of room deodarant for gods sake!
