We just stopped in for a drink. The bar staff were very slow to serve us, serving people who came in after us first. There was also some kind of event going on, which meant they closed the toilets just as my partner was going to use them, which was frustrating. The buildings architecture and decor on the inside is grand and ornate. I think given the number of other bars in the area, I'd avoid coming here for drinks again.
Hôtel qui présente un spectacle de jeu de lumières avec l'histoire du passé de l'hôtel. Les 45 min de l'activité passent vite mais j'ai trouvé dommage que les événements racontés s'arrêtent à 1940 au lieu d'aller jusqu'à la fermeture de cet hôtel magnifique par les décorations et moulures. Donc en sortant on ne sait pas pourquoi il n'a pas survécu à tout son faste d'antan. Une explication simple et concise aurait été appréciée.
Un très beau hôtel ancien richement décoré , qui n ' à pas survécu aux travaux du piétonnier du centre . Heureusement certains ont engagé une continuation de vie pour l endroit , et actuellement le restaurant , et bar sont ouverts . Ce qui nous donne l ' opportunités d y passé un moment dans la très belle salle , et aussi de traverser les couloirs pour accéder aux WC
We had a lovely stay, it made our anniversary really special. The room was spacious and very clean, fluffy robes and slippers where a fantastic touch. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful with a variety to choose from, self made pancakes where tasty. I will hopefully be back for the Christmas holidays.
Stayed 2 nights at a superior double. The bed is super wide and spacious, though the interior is smaller than the pictures would lead you to think. It appears that there is still some construction or maintenance underway, as the phone in the bathroom yes, in the bathroom was crooked and some insulation was visible. The bathroom as a whole was very nice. Overall, I enjoyed my stay there. The hotel has an old-time feel to it, comfortable beds, nice staff, and excellent location. The only downside were the signs of maintenance in the room crooked bathroom phone being the standout
Pour la réouverture en juin 2022, on a voulu prendre un verre en terrasse. Le serveur nous a vu nous asseoir mais n'est jamais venu prendre notre commande. Le service reste donc nul et je comprends qu'il a déjà fermé 2x suite à une mauvaise gestion. Dommage pour un établissement soi-disant 5 étoiles
Faded grandeur. A fantastic location, the rooms are clean and comfortable, but not luxurious. The hotel itself is a very attractive building with loads of history. The ground floor restaurant is very good and with good service. Not cheap, but a nice place to get a taste of Belgian Empire. Joseph Conrad probably had a beer or two there as well.
