Overall my family had a great time during our Hot Air Balloon ride in Port Douglas in May 2014. The views from the balloon were fantastic and it was amazing to see the sunrise. The crew was very professional and accommodating. Not having ever previously gone ballooning we didn't know what to expect, so were surprised by how large the balloons were. We were told each of the 4 sections of the basket could hold up to 6 people. During our ride there were 5 people in each section of the basket. I felt like the experience would have been 5 star if we had a bit more space (we were traveling as a family of 4 adults and a single adult rider was in our basket with us as well) to give us a bit more space to feel relaxed and more comfortable.

Doing this on our honeymoon was a wonderful experience, just like the movies. Our gratitude to pilot Bob, he was so interesting to talk to and the photos we took on the day with his help really made our experience unforgettable, the sky was so big.

Picked up early in the morning 4:20am from the hotel in Port Douglas. Along the way in the bus we were told little bits of information until our arrival at the balloons. I should point out it had been raining in Port Douglas, but up on the tableland the weather was perfect. There were 2 30 minute flights. I was on the second, so we started with watching the balloon go up and we continued with chasing it. Once on board, the flight was smooth and lower off the ground than I expected. Best of both worlds. High enough to see a long way to the horizon, low enough to see wildlife and other details on the ground. The staff were friendly and informative and showed they liked what they're doing. Great morning, all pluses and I can overlook the early morning as it was worth it.

An Unforgettable Ending For My Working Holiday Hi everyone, I am a backpacker staying in Brisbane for 1 year. I never thought that I would go for a hot air balloon ride due to my bad fear of heights. However, I come up with the fear and went on a hot air balloon ride before i left Australia eventually. The sunrise in Cairns was a lovely backdrop to the woven basket and helium balloon carrier. The whole process from the early morning start, seeing the balloons fill with helium at sun rise in dark, the flight experience and help packing down the balloon was also having good fun!!! Thanks Hot Air Ballooning for providing wonderful memories to us! TS Visited June 2014
