Hominy Bakery

This little bakery on the main street of Katoomba seems to have a big reputation. The small space was absolutely packed and people weaving in & out non stop. There is a selection of freshly baked breads, pies, sweet & savoury pastries & cakes. The chunky beef pie was delicious, the only downside was that the pastry was a bit thick & soggy on the bottom. The churros was great - light & fluffy. Absolutely loved the chocolate hazelnut cake - so decadent & delicious & the apple & pear cake was also a hit & must. Got some sourdough to go and so glad I did. They are made the proper way, not just a sour taste added to it. It was dense yet fluffy, nutty & had a great crust. Service can be a bit short tempered but you have to cut them some slack when they seem to be run off their feet all day.

My partner is French and so we can never find croissants and pastries that meet his standards. This place does! We had the plain butter croissant and the chocolate croissant, it’s as if we were teleported to France. Absolutely delicious.

By far the best bakery I have been to in Katoomba and possible the entire blue mountains! These folks bake fresh and you can tell... everything is made there if course but care is put into the food which is obvious from the crunch and yummy flavour! I had several meals there over 3 days and one of their vegetarian pies was one of the best I've had. They also do churrios for $1.6 which were crunchy yet nice and soft inside! Service was efficient and pricing was warranted for the standard they deliver!

Have been to this bakery 4 times now. Food is fresh, and resonably priced, there was one day when a foreign accented female staff member was more taken with her baker coworker than the customers, but other staff are warm & helpful. Hazelnut biscuits particularly brilliant, please leave some for me ; )

Bought an apple and rhubarb turnover last sunday only to find myself chewing on a red thick rubber band... YUCK. Despite being locals, we wont be returning. Would not recommend.
