Hog's Australia's Steakhouse Ballarat

The slow-cooked steak was excellent, melt-in-your-mouth type stuff. The calamari was tender and flavoursome. The steak burger was tasty, especially with a bit of a spicy chilli zing. Good food, but not a place for a cheap meal. Not sure about the 'aussie' decor, but a good location with comfortable seating.

Service was slow, took 15 minutes to get a drinks order and then a further 45 for any food to arrive at all. Had the funny feeling that we had been forgotten. People who had arrived after us had eaten and left before anything turned up When our food finally turned up, the kids fish meals were fine but my steak was overcooked in places due to it being a very poorly cut steak in the first place and also lukewarm at best. my wives steak was half fat and despite having 45 minutes to get it right, still managed to not get her order right. All in all most unsatisfactory

Concisely verbalising our choice from the menu, as well as pointing to the choice of dish on the menu was not enough to ensure that we got what we had ordered. It was the manager who book this order! He was quite blunt and definite that we had placed a different order and would not co cede where the error lay. "Like it or lump it" was his attitude!!! He grudgingly gave a small discount.

Friendly staff but the service was quite slow :( the curly fries weren’t fresh but overall ok
