Had an interesting conversation with the lady volunteering she had a wealth of knowledge on convict history and actually had 2 family members that were convicts back in the day.nMatthew was our tour guide and he led us through the history of the buildings and what life was like for not only the prisoners but penitentiary workers too. He had a lot of information on the hangman and grave digger which reminded us life was really unpleasant for a long time in Tasmania.nTour is interactive, has a movie to watch but be aware there are tight steps to be climbed to access tunnels and different wings of the penitentiary. A small part of the tour is underground with the majority at street level.nDefinitely recommend this tour.

Incredible experience!! The host was very bubbly and knowledgeable. The tour felt intimate and we had access to incredible sights!! Highly recommend if you enjoy history, archeology or museums.

The tour was fascinating.  I would go on this again because I am sure I don't recall all the information that was given. Oscar was so very kind to us as we waited for the tour to begin and Brendan was a wonderful guide. I definitely recommend this tour.

Absolutely amazing historical location and very informative museum. Big thanks to the guides doing great job by drawing visitors' attention to specific features of that particular penitentiary.

Tour was interesting. Included two video presentations which were approx 25 minutes. Our guide was less of a guide and more of a teacher. Interesting stories and history but not engaging.
