GOMA Gallery Of Modern Art

The GOMA in Brisbane is an exceptional gallery. Sitting adjacent the Art Gallery of Queensland it make for an engaging and inspiring visit. The collection of works is varied, diverse and multicultural. The exhibitions range from post-modern installations to culturally significant works. The hosted exhibitions offer a plethora of choice from international and national artists. The only negative, not that it is really, is that on the school holidays it is full of school children, interacting, exploring in a delightful, yet noisy way. As an artist and art educator this is exactly what a gallery should be about. If you like it quiet, select outside those hours and the experience will be more to your liking.

What an amazing gallery, it is in a convent location beside the city. Multiple was to get there through transport and lots of options for parking (warning, can be expensive). I have been for multiple exhibitions, all have been well laid out and planned. I would recommend seeing anything that is on here. I was lucky enough to see the Marvel Exhibition which was spectacular!

Great place for the family. Many exhibits, most are free to view. Some popular ones have long waiting queues so be prepared for some waiting time. Accessibility is easy and there are wide staircases and elevators. Staff are visible and helpful. I suggest parking in the CBD and walking across Victoria Bridge, as parking is cheaper that way. Would highly recommend a yearly trip to this place.

Not much of an art fan, so my opinion might not be for you. Nice aircon, cool place to escape the heat. Modern looking, not cluttered. The displays I've seen attract some pretentious people, but most of the galleries shown are just that anyway. Fine way to escape the heat.

Nice architecture and friendly staff. Went with two friends to visit the Yayoi exhibition - Life is the Heart of A Rainbow. Probably should have gone earlier because it was the second last week and it was absolutely packed. The queues to get into the infinity rooms were crazy so we ditched that. However, the exhibit itself is still pretty good.
