Incredibly rude old guy at the server. Please refer to the man on the photo. Came to claim my birthday drink. Made rude comments such as "I hope you don't come here every year." And as well as repeatedly saying "what do you like?" infront of other customers for asking which drinks are valid for the birthday drink. Appalled by the behaviour so decided not to claim here. I hope its not like this everywhere that franchises Gloria Jeans. That was disappointing.
I absolutely love this shop. It's my go-to cafe in Chatswood, and I take friend whenever possible too. The owner is very nice. He's very welcoming every time, and lets me stay and study for hours even after I finish my food. The inner areas have plenty of seating, with the option between tables and couches. Very homey. Of the drinks, I think the highlights definitely are the chocolate based ones, like the iced drinks and mocha. My personal favourite is the mudslide mocha, but on colder days, I get the normal mocha hot drinks. Some may say that the prices are higher than the average cafe, but I think that's unavoidable with franchising. The best selling point of this cafe more than makes up for it though, and it's the cakes. I love the cakes so much, and they're so affordable, at around $5.50 for a good-sized slice. The New York cheesecake and the Blueberry cheesecakes are my favourites. They aren't too soft, and are appropriately creamy, on top of being well-sized and well within my price range. I can get a quiet place to study, a delicious drink, and an even more delicious cake for $10, and that's all I can ask for. Absolutely wonderful.
I’ve just had the most shocking experience at Gloria Jeans Chatswood. The Korean man at the counter was very rude to me. I had a free birthday coffee so I thought I would treat myself on my birthday. He told me to scan my card and then proceeded to tell me it “looks like you not shop here enough”. I was very embarrassed because it is true I haven’t been to Gloria Jeans coffee shop in a while so I offered an apology. He said “I know! I can see on your card.” I tried to order something which would take minimal effort for him so I don’t infuriate him. He rang up a small mango iced drink and proceeded to make it. I tried to small chat with him by asking if he was the owner. He said yes. I sympathised and said oh it must be difficult to get staff to work on a Sunday. He said, “ less people like you ordering free coffees and maybe I can afford to keep a staff on roster, understand? Understand what I am saying?” I nodded. Took my drink and ran out. Really made my birthday a sad one. He could have gone about it another way and maybe I would come back but now I only have trauma when I see Gloria Jeans.
Terrible owner Terrible attitude. Owner is very rude. Does not like special order coffees. Hot and froffy. Not that weird but he lost it with me and said he couldn't make it and gave me my money back. Hides sugar and spoons behind counter and when I reached for a sugar last visit he yelled at me. Will never go back.
Came here to try the typical Australian coffee. Couldn't really differentiate the difference as am not a coffee master but was glad to finally able to try out Australian coffee. Located in the central stretch of Chatswood business centre. Very crowded and busy outside the shop so was glad to be able to sit down and relax with my cup of coffee inside the cafe.
I absolutely agree with the majority of the viewers about how rude and condescending the male owner is. He was rude to me when I asked for skim milk and an extra shot, did not smile, looked annoyed. He has limited English skills and had difficulty understanding my order. I am so surprised he is the owner of the cafe, because he looks like an underpaid employee who hates his job and wants no customers. He told me I cannot have the coffee there because they are going to close, after he actually asked me if I wanted to have here or takeaway? Then what is the point of asking me? He then asked for 50 cents surcharge and when my partner complained about it, suddenly, while my partner’s card was still inserted in the EFTPOS, he aggressively grabbed the EFTPOS machine out of my partner’s hand and yelled at us: “The transaction cancelled, GET OUT! GET OUT!” He then freaked out when my partner started to film him at the door. He also failed to explain how he calculated the surcharge, ironically, he told us to go ask the Westpac bank because it is the rule set by the bank. Isn’t it your obligation to explain how the surcharge is calculated to your customers as a business owner? I recommend him to go ask the ACCC because I am concerned if he really thinks it is useful to use the bank to scare customers away, or if he is actually exceeding the surcharge limit because he cannot prove the surcharge amount based on customers’ transaction costs. I was so upset until I saw how many people had similar experiences as us, knowing we are not the only people who got treated like that, that just made me feel so much better. No wonder they don't have many customers.
Put water in my Mug of flat white. Very angry ! ! Cannot believe this cheating act!! Is the owner trying to save money on milk?? I drink coffee for 23 years, first time ever!! No staff in the shop except the owner. Must because of poor business.
Unfriendly store. DO NOT GO. There are many good cafes at Chatswood, do not waste your money here! I saw many reviews complaining their staff, and it'd true - rude and unfriendly.Food: 2/5
My friend and I come here often but have realised that the trading hours are false and they actually close at around 6pm NOT 8pm. Drink is ok, but on the pricey side. Could get it from a better cafe...
the Korean/asian old man behind the counter is so aggressive towards me,. he is not clear with his english,. and most of all the place is so filthy,. do not spend your money in this store Very bad experience,. it gives gloria jeans bad name,. please don’t reply to say sorry,.I’m not the only one that makes the same complaint,just read all the previous review DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS
