Not really an information centre, more of an overpriced shop with a rude owner. There's a free water fountain by the public toilets across the road, so don't pay $5.60 for a bottle of water!
We stumbled upon a great little gem. Tim the owner is a great guy. He was so helpful. I with absolutely recommend you commit to and the team for a stator at least a glass of wine and some lunch.
The place is wonderful. You can find a lot of gifts and souvenirs and take some lovely pictures too. The coffee was nice and the pastries were delicious... really enjoyed the scenery while savouring the excellent dishes. Spent hours looking at the groceries and bee produces at this place. The downside is the portable toilets at the parking lot - a little bit out of place and during winter it was really taxing for most of us. We enjoyed the poe and the best surely is the affogato with chocolate gelato... the best in new zealand! It close around 6pm so its food to come during morning and during lunch hours. Theres a number of benches and seating area where you van enjoy food and scenery...
The information centre is next to the pub. Don't get confused with the tourist operators who have an information flag out front. Not sure if this is an official information centre but the advice was helpful and unbiased. We recieved a free local map from here of local walks.
Best almond flat white and stake and cheese pie at the general store/Bonny Jean cafe.
Nice and quiet town in the middle of nature.. Good amenities and places to visit.
Found this place while going for a drive along the lake. Glad we stopped by. Bought a couple good rain jackets and some amazing coffee. The seasonal workers were nice and great at small talk and some basic info about the area. None of them that I saw were native, but loved the land they were in.
Now called "Mrs Woolly General Store" fantastic place to grab in my opinion the best coffee in the area, and some brilliant quality food. The range of clothing one equipment is fantastic. Very niche Uber cool. The staff are very friendly and super helpful. Will bend over backwards to help you out. The buttermilk scones are to die for!!!
A good place to buy some interesting stuff
We had a little time after our little nature walk at the beginning of the Routeburn Track. By the time we got back around 4:30-5:00 pm ?, most of the shops close at 4:00 p.m. We went inside Mrs. Willy's instead and was pleasantly surprised.
