At Geelong Fresh Foods we offer a large fresh-food section, deli counter and extensive continental grocery range.

Story

Geelong Fresh Foods is a relatively new business but fresh produce is very much a family tradition. In fact five generations are involved in this business, which is located in spacious premises on Pakington St, Geelong West. Fresh fruit and vegetables is the main emphasis, but it is complemented by a comprehensive deli section and continental grocery department. There’s also an emphasis on locally sourced foods.

At Geelong Fresh Foods we understand fresh foods. Throughout our journey we have passed on generations of experience.

Today, like everyday, we strive to deliver a shopping experience where our expertise with the freshest quality foods will bring the highest level of enjoyment.

Some really really great things, but one really big negative lose two star.nWe really loved visiting this store for the first time this week. So much variety and all deliciously presented. We wanted to buy it all! The deli small goods looked divine!nWe purchased ‘Viral Dubai chocolate’ - small chocolate bars with pistachio inside $12.99 per bar. Not something I’d normally buy due to the exorbitant price and small size, but hey - on holiday… it was very yummy but I wouldn’t buy again.nWhen queuing to pay we found the assorted Italian almond biscuits which we love! Unfortunately we had to sort through about 4 containers to find biscuits that weren’t covered in a lot of fluffy white mold I forgot to get a pic. We eventually found one without mold. They were all the same expiry date and were a couple of days still within date. We should’ve told the staff member upon paying but they were flat out busy.nWhen we got home to try the biscuits they were stale.
Geelong Fresh is not ‘fresh foods’. I used to have really high regards for this store. However, yet again trying to buy produce such as kale every packet had an expired use-by date Kumatos that were off with mould in a tray packet. Other times Parmesan cheese with mould. I don’t like having to shop like a “freshness detective”
Disappointing experience at the checkout. There were two staff working, but the line I was in moved extremely slowly due to conversation and lack of urgency. The staff member at the adjacent register served someone who had been in front of me so they didn’t have to wait, then I was repeatedly overlooked while others, including people who had just joined the line, were served ahead of me.nAfter waiting at least five minutes without being acknowledged, I left and went to the front registers. It felt unfair and frustrating, and I couldn’t help but wonder whether being overlooked had anything to do with me being a man.nUnfortunately, this isn’t an isolated experience. On multiple visits, including at customer service, I’ve consistently found staff to seem uninterested in helping. It’s disappointing, as I expect better service from a local business.
Highest quality of everything, everything looks so fresh and tasty, staff is friendly and welcoming.nTheir mangoes are so delicious, cherries ar good, their Greek cheese and turkey are wonderful.nPeanut butter is fresh and tasty. I liked everything there, olives and their caramelised onions are so good.
I'm changing my review due to a purchase I made on Friday 19th July.nI bought some Greek style Baklava for my fathers birthday before I left Geelong for the weekend.nYou can imagine how disappointed I was when I read the best before date.nYes I take responsibility for not being more careful but I trusted this store. That won't be a mistake I make again.nThe best before date was 20/5/2024, so 2 months older than recommended yuck.
